The State has entered a Nolle Prosequi in a case where opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Vice President and Presidential Running Mate Geoffrey Mwamba is accused of Conduct Likely to Cause the breach of Peace.
Principle State Advocate Katongo Waluzimba under the Office of the National Prosecution Authority said they had instructions to stop the case but that the other two cases are still on.
Yesterday the matter came up before Kitwe Magistrate Maloto Phiri and first was the Assault Case were the complainant Moses Katongo of No. 1074 Kawama, Kitwe identified Mr. Mwamba as the one who had slapped him on 19th May 2016 around 14 hours.
Mr. Katongo a Toothpaste street vendor at Chisokone Market claimed that on the material day a group called “HH” led by a man he identified as “Mr. GBM” came to the market and upon reaching his stand “Mr. GBM” asked him to shout “forward” and flash a unfolded palm symbol but that he refused.
He claimed it is at this point “Mr. GBM” slapped him on his mouth and left him bleeding and two teeth shaking.
At was at this point that Mr. Katongo reported the matter to Police that gave him a medical Report to present at the Hospital.
During Cross Examination by Defence Lawyers led by Mulilo Kabesha and Tom Shamakamba said the accused was lying to the Court as the statement he gave to the Police which he Mr. Kabesha read in Court was different from his submissions this morning especially on the matter of bleeding and shaking of teeth.
And a second Witness Dillan Chama, 23, also identified Mr. Mwamba who was in the company of UDF President Miles Sampa with about seven others and a mob as the person he saw slapping Mr. Katongo around 11 hours.
And Magistrate Phiri adjourned the matter to 3rd August 2016 for the continuation of the case and the accused Bail has since been extended.
Present during the case was the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and his United Democratic Front counterpart Miles Sampa, former Acting President Dr. Guy Scott and former Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) National Secretary Major Richard Kachingwe among others are a crowed of chanting UPND supporters outside the Courts.
Security was tight as the Zambia Police had deployed a battalion of Police officers heavily armed and in full riot gear to maintain peace.
Meanwhile Mr. Mwamba popularly known as GBM has since resumed his campaigns on the Copperbelt and was expected to address rallies in Chililabombwe, Chibuluma and Ndola respectively before attending a dinner Dance at Kitwe’s Mooba Hotel tonight.
Lungu is becoming desperately embarrassing in his attempts to force zambians to vote for him.
Lungu has no vision, he told us himself. He is a failed lawyer, he stole from a widowed client. How can someone like that be allowed to be president?
They shouldn’t jail GBM on August 3. It will be terrible for President Inonge and running mate Edgar.

We have elected many presidents to rule us since independence but the masses think that Edgar Chagwa Lungu is God given, humble and loving, something special among all those presidents before him, ali ibela. As for Mr GBV, the man is just a waste of campaign time and resources, his value is no more than entertainment at UPND rallies. He is the “big comical character” dressed in red overalls to watch out for in the stage. Once he has done his act everybody else is either yawning, asleep, or just switched off when it is HH’s turn to address the rally. I suggest that UPND start with HH on stage. The anticipation of the massive human flesh in red overalls on the podium may just keep the crowds awake when HH is talking.
He is also a waste of space!
Now UPND allow me to share something privileged with you. GBV, Guyscot Mulenga sata Miles sampa claim that they left PF because it has lost Sata’s vision. Now the masses are wondering whether they are telling us that these fellows have found Sata’s vision in UPND and how, they ask. Impossible for HH to carry Sata’s vision. On the other hand they can see, touch and sonta at the continued development by PF, they can see that Sata’s vision has remained alive in PF. Uluse kuli ba HH! Ati HH will fix it? Fix what? The health centres wont have personnel or drugs. They were just ATMs to launder money from overpriced projects. When IMF starts they will be the ones signing cheques after Zambia fulfils some conditions like removing FISP, fuel and maize and mealie meal subsidies, increasing electricity tarrifs to so called cost reflective levels. We will see then who will eat infrastructure or drivea car when fuel is not affordable.

If ba UPND think we all can change like scott..and family tree they are mistaken. To say the least we have seen more progressive development in Zambia with PF at the helm than any other time in Zambian history. Ba spaka like lilo think HH is his best man. Also us think ECL is our man. What guarantee is there that HH will even fix what according to them needs fixing? He has no public experience to concvince me he will. We have a lot of examples accross africa … TZ.. Ghana.. Malawi.. Bostwana.. were macro level stabilization made people more poor even with so called economic managers at the helm. The good thing is that Zambians do not even know what they want a govt to do for them. Poverty is normal and part of life, living in dirty compounds, markets, town, no proper amenities is okay for many electorates. Lungu who they are dancing for has already made himself rich within 12 months and nobody is querying him to disclose what business he does to get so rich. In the meantime, the country is diving deep in debt!
