Zambia team spirit in camp excites Wedson

Wedson Nyirenda is excited with the team spirit he has witnessed in the Zambia camp as midfielder Chisamba Lungu arrives for Sunday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Group B qualifier against Nigeria in Ndola.

Zambia entered day two of its final week of training with eight out of the nine overseas call-ups taking part in Tuesday afternoon training with their 15 home-based counterparts.

“I am happy with the way the boys are applying themselves in training, the morale in the team and the brotherhood on and off the pitch. We are looking set for better things,” Nyirenda said.

Meanwhile, Chisamba of Russian club FC Ural arrived at lunchtime to end his five month self-imposed exile from the team.

Defender Stopilla Sunzu of French Ligue 1 club Lille is expected to join the team on Wednesday.

  1. ANYOKOoo, ia amazed with your perception. Who told you that only a muzungu can make wonders here, why do you degrade yourself. So for you to make your home into a super you will employ a muzungu because you have NO brains to thinks. That is the reason why you as Zambian you are still struggling because you are still waiting for someone to think for you. Go Nyirenda Go, do not listen to failures.

  2. Its not so much getting a “muzungu coach” as it is exposing our best young coaches to appropriate training of tactics, systems & strategies with leading nations such as Germany, Spain & Italy, or indeed attachments with giant clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid & Liverpool so that our coaches can learn “practically” how to develop talent, how to prepare teams for matches, how to manage the match itself (tactics, substitutions etc), and how to review performance post-match! We need to identify trainers & potential “trainers of trainers” in order to shake up our whole system from the age of 8 or so, all the way through to the U17, U20, U23 & full national team for both men & women, there’s no other way…

  3. You will need more than team spirit to beat Naija. Skills and strategy should come to the field. Thats where you need good players and a good coach. We dont have good players and dont have a coach. Amama neo!
