Zanaco, Nkana & Zesco win, Power fail to beat Blackpool

Leaders Zanaco kept second placed Nkana at bay on Wednesday after a 2-1 away win over Red Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Zanaco’s win saw them maintain their seven-point lead over Nkana who also won on the road on Wednesday.

Saith Sakala put Zanaco ahead in the 41st minute, Richard Kasonde added the final goal in the 45th to see them rise to 64 points with five games left to play.

Francis Simwanza scored Arrows’ consolation goal in the 90th minute.

Nkana on the other hand beat Lumwana Radiants 1-0 to end their ex-coach Beston Chambeshi’s five-match unbeaten run that saw them come into Wednesday’s home match armed with three straight league victories.

Austin Muwowo scored the game’s lone goal in the 9th minute.

Power Dynamos stay third but fall four points behind Nkana after they were held to a 0-0 away draw by demoted Mufulira Blackpool.

Defending champions Zesco are six points behind Power after a 2-1 home win over Lusaka Dynamos in Ndola.

Luka Chamanga put third from bottom Dynamos ahead in the 17th minute after defender Ben Banh handled the ball in the area.

However, Mwape Mwelwa equalised in the 20th minute before Idris Mbombo snatched the winner in the 80th minute.
