Zambia Police service yesterday afternoon fought running battles with Monze residents after residents attempted to greet and console their leaders, HH and GBM, having being released from the cells.
UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema and his Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, this morning, left for Southern province for a family funeral but were greeted with teargas canisters when residents turned up to have a glance of their leaders by the roadside.
Meanwhile, emotions in the nation are beginning to flare given the dictatorial brutal approach Edgar LUNGU is administering on political opponents.
The residents who vowed to put an end to what they called foolish oppressive schemes by Edgar LUNGU took to the streets in support of opposition leaders.
When police saw that the residents were becoming more hostile, they ran for their lives into near-by houses for refuge while others cried for help.

If I was officer in charge, I would ask for permission to withdraw my men. If these people riot, so be it-they would be causing damage to their own property/possessions. These two have got to grow up and stop seeking sympathy and abusing these poor villagers. Look at that innocent woman who fell off a moving van! There is nothing to be proud of here.
HH and GBM are public figures and everywhere they will go in the country people are bound to follow them and want to great them. SO the police must exercise caution when dealing with the people in such cases. Those have followers just like some influential people in PF, you cannot avoid people entirely even if you are going to the funeral. Word will go round that kantwa is in town and the masses will pour in to check you out. The police should also not risk their lives for no concrete reason.
