Zanaco on the brink of the 2016 FAZ Super Division title

Share

The 2016 FAZ Super Division title could be decided as early as Wednesday.

Leaders Zanaco will be confirmed as champions if they beat tenants Napsa Stars away at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka on November 23.

Defending champions Zesco United on the other hand need to win at home on the same date against Kabwe Warriors at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to keep their 2017 continental dreams alive.

Zanaco, who have 69 points, can seal the title race with three games to spare if they can beat Napsa and attain unassailable 72 points.

Victory will see Zanaco go clear as Zambia’s third most successful club with seven crowns leaving Power Dynamos and Green Buffaloes on six.

Nkana and Mufulira Wanderers have 12 and 9 titles respectively.

Meanwhile, a Zanaco win will mean Zesco will now be left battle for second place whose prize is a 2017 CAF Confederation Cup slot.

However, a draw or defeat will potentially see Zesco miss continental football for the first time since 2013.

Zesco have 57 points with five games in hand and are ten points behind Nkana who have one match left to play.

  1. Zanuck doesn’t perform well at international level. very disappointing indeed they even loose to teams like highlanders of Swaziland. so let them relinquish the title to a composed team.
