Zesco loadshed Zanaco’s double hopes

Zanaco missed a chance to win a 2016 double after losing the Barclays Cup final to Zesco United at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday.

The Bankers went into the Barclays Cup final three days after winning the 2016 FAZ Super Division title.

Congolese striker Idris Mbombo scored on 71 minutes as Zesco beat Zanaco 1-0 to win the Barclays Cup for a record fifth time.

Mbombo was later voted the Man of the Match and walked away with a K1,000.00 cheque while Zanaco midfielder Charles Zulu won the Player of the Tournament award worth K5,000.00.

Zesco United acting head coach Tenant Chembo won the Coach of the Tournament award worth K10,000.00.

Champions Zesco were given a cheque worth K300,000.00. with Zanaco receiving K150,000.00 as runners-up.

  1. Watching the match on supersport iam compelled to ask do you guys take football seriously? If you do you will have realised both the Ndola and Lusaka stadia need full time greenskeepers
    The pitches need someone to tend them. If possible get a graduate from NRDC or Forestry in CB. The playing field is not something you look after as an after thought. Its the most important part of the game so a full-time greenskeeper is a must. The heroes pitch was pathetic
