All peoples Congress leader challenges UPND, MPs to boycott sitting allowances

Share

All Peoples Congress Leader Nason Msoni has challenged UPND Members of parliament to also boycott sitting allowances from parliament because they have refused to recognize the current administration.

Mr. Msoni is shocked that the UPND has refused to recognize government when they are part of it through the legislative arm of government.

He told Hot FM News that the behavior of the UPND is undermining public confidence in the entire opposition political parties and giving advantage to independent candidates to win elections.

Mr Msoni is among the many people who have commented on the controversy that has surrounded the directive by the UPND leadership for their  MPs to shun State functions until the Presidential petition is exhausted.

The directive comes in the wake of their MP for Kembe Constituency Princess Kusune Zulu’s interaction with the Republican President at a function in her Constituency where she was invited as the guest.

On Tuesday a youth leader castigated the UPND leadership describing the directive as ridiculous, outrageous and dictatorial.

Prince Ndoyi who is the former ZANASU Vice President said in as much as the party sponsored the law makers to parliament, the parliamentarians are not in the house to represent the UPND but the people who voted for them.

He also said the MPs become part of the government the day they took their oaths hence should not confuse political functions with State functions.

  1. Mr. Msoni, these are selfish people and will never boycott anything that benefits them. They claim that they do not recognize the PF government but always the first to line to pick up the sitting allowances made available by the PF government.

    • Why should they stop get sitting allowance? don’t they attend parliament? MP’s draw their sitting allowances for being in the house representing their electorates. Recognizing the current administration or not has got nothing to do with sitting allowances iwe ci Nason

  2. Unfortunately ba Dombwa recognizing a sitting administration has everything to with sitting allowances. Do not promote the useless culture where legislators will pick what suits them.

  3. Ba Msoni, let those who voted for UPND comment whether their SG’s instruction to their Mps is right or wrong. Whether this action will make the electorates loose confidence in UPND or not is a matter for UPND to solve, why worry? This might be an opportunity for you, Mr Msoni, to make your party popular maybe you might win one or two parliamentary seats in 2021. All Mps are entitled to be paid sitting allowances (Taxpayer’s money) as long they are present in Parliament.

  4. What is this msoni? ….

    And i quote:
“the UPND is undermining public confidence in the entire opposition political parties and giving advantage to independent candidates to win elections”.

How many mps does Old Popi Congress have in Parliament? Which opposition political parties is he spokesperson for and when was he appointed?

What’s wrong with independents winning parliamentary seats? If your Old Popi Congress party has failed to deliver not even a single mp to parliament, it shouldn’t make you start hating on independents.

As long as they are representing the tax paying citizens who elected them to parliament and they pushing for developmental projects in their constituencies they are entitled to the allowances, remember when parliament is closed for business…

  5. Msoni is talking nonsense. If the PF govt comes up with a Bill in Parliament will PF MPS vote against it?When it comes to Party Policy MPs are bound by Party Policy and whipped into voting for a Bill introduced by the Ruling Party. If PF MPs voted against the govt Bill they will expelled from the Party. So why should UPND MPs Not adhere to Party Policy. That is why each Party in Parliament appoints a Chief Whip to co-ordinate how its MPs vote in Parliament. Nothing unusual with UPND position given that the Petetion contesting Lungu’s re-election is still alive and has not been heard. UPND MPs cannot recognise Lungu as President when their Party is alleging that Lungu was not legally elected President of Zambia. Its up to Lungu to prove in Court that he won the Presidential Election…

  6. AGONY… This whole UPND mandate sounds like a person who is suffering from dissociative disorder, this is where a person’s sense of self is disrupted . A child entirely depends on his or her parents to meet the basic need and yet fails to recognise the same parents..( Confused).. Please know what you need in this political arena and stop confusing yourselves ..

  7. I think a Nason Msoni ndio funta ngako, these people are aggrieved with the parliamentary election results where they were clearly cheated. They want their aggrievance addressed first before they can be seen fratenizing with a man whose presidence they are challenging in court lest they create an impression that they accept his legitimacy. Now, as for sitting in parliament and drawing allowance, that is what they actually want whence their aggrievance. If they were to boycott that, just what the hell would be the basis of their grievance? A Msoni muzi nkalako na malango, cimuntu ci mukulu conse sure malako kwati ni kamwana kamtoto.

  8. Its high time HH with his group realised that God cannot be mocked. Accept the facts at hand and move on, you hurt yourselves more by grieving forever when a leader was already put in place by the people. My appeal is for the leadership is to put God first if they are to lead in 50years, but as for now, he already gave the nation a leader.

  9. PF does not own or have a government of its own! Only a Zambian government exists – there is no PF government in Zambia. And, there are three arms that form the Zambian government re Executive, Adjudicature, and the Legislature. UPND is part of Zambian government Governmenthead,in the Law-making Wing.. They are only opposed to the legitimacy of the Executive wing of our Government trinity. So, why should they not be paid for working for the Zambian government, their Government?

  10. Lusaka Times, Ndoyi and Msoni are ‘many’. Msoni say UPND is draining people’s confidence in the opposition: in short he is saying the only opposition is UPND, him is a mere papet (sp). He also talks like he has an MP. Before UPND made that pronouncement, one would think Mson had an MP contrasted to independent candidate. Problems of commenting on anything from UPND exposes Mson’s crudity & disjointedness.

  11. UPNDonkeys never cease to amaze! What is most amazing is that they dont realise that they are decampaigning themselves for 2021, or maybe they have given up on 2021 since 2016 was their last chance?

  12. UPND minions always behaving like headless chickens, on one hand their useless MPs are busy dabating the budget drawn up by the govt they do not recognise and getting allowances part of which they donate to their useless party and on the other hand their useless leaders are instructing them not to attend state fuctions, what a bunch of childish 1diots?
