A Principle at Lubuto Trust College in Chingola on the Copper-belt yesterday testified in case where Former Kafue Member of Parliament Obvious Mwaliteta and five other United Party Development (UPND) officials have been charged with Aggravated Robbery.

Emmanuel Simbeye, aged 58, testified that upon arrival at City Airport from Chingola, they were picked up by a Toyota Land cruiser vehicle belonging to the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Mr. Simbeye, added that after driving for about fifty meters from City Airport gate, a Toyota Hiace mini bus blocked them from the front whilst another vehicle, a Toyota Mark II blocked them from behind.

He said about fifteen men came out from the mini bus and that one of the attackers used pepper to spry him on the face and later assaulted him.

Facts of the matter are that, three Returning Officers who were coming from the Copperbelt aboard a Zambia Air Force plane, after arriving at Lusaka City Airport, were intercepted as they were proceeding to the Electoral Commission of Zambia Headquarters to deliver materials that included records of proceedings (Form 18) and announcement of poll results (Gen 12).

Five people have since been arrested in connection with two counts of Aggravated Robbery Contrary to section 294 and 22 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

They appeared yesterday before High Court Judge, Justice Dancewell Bowa, the five are Obvious Summerton Mwaliteta aged 46, Evans Mukobela aged 44, Macmillan Shimukonka aged 33, Laswell Phiri aged 42 and Emmanuel Mumbi aged 46.

  1. Manga the chaps so that Hakainde should know better way of handling issues of political nature. Only the donkeys are only suffering while the riders are just enjoying their freedom (HH and wife batterer Mwamba)

    • Now the ECZ witness fails to reconcile his testimony in cross-examination:
lawyer Keith Mukata: In your testimony you told the court that you got a medical report on the 14th the day u were attacked but the records indicate that the report has a date for the next date .
ECZ/ state witness : gets stuck.
UPND lawyer Keith : when you ferried the form GEN 12 , did u inform the stake holders?
ECZ worker/ witness: No, their role ended at the polling station
Lawyer: Why did you carry Forms which were not signed by all stake holders?
ECZ/ state witness: My job was to simply ferry the documents
lawyer: Answer the question, do you call that free and fair elections?
      ECZ / witness: quiet
Keith Mukata : hands over the medical report dated 15th August, is that 14 th august you have in your…

  2. JUst lock them if they committed that criminality so that HH and UPND can learn from them. Its a shame that a person who was a minister turns out to be a criminal. Shame on him.

  3. This is a country of laws whether aggrieved or not, from the ruling party or opposition, all must abide. Therefore, Mwaliteta and his crew MUST be jailed for their crime.

  4. Mwaliteta is a dull chap. He voted for a bill to pass that disenfranchised him and certain other chaps. And now the same chaps he solely supported have him facing a jail term. He deserves what is duly coming his way.

  5. Just leave the donkeys alone. It was mere ignorance and cadreism that led them into that act. To insuniate aggravated robberly is simply having bad faith towards this act. Balekeni period. Also note it was election period with a very untrustworthy opponent. Hate and vindictiveness should not drive our Judiciary tho Executive led. Chief Justice wake up and play ypur role!!!!!

  6. For me I voted for Edgar, but if HH had won the election I was going to respect him as head of state. Insulting the president does not add value to your being.

  7. THS MWALITA, AND THAT FORMER COP SIANDENGE WHO IS A FUGITIVE IN HIS OWNCOUNTRY WILL
CERTAINLY ROT IN JAIL WHILST UNDR FIVE AND HIS IMP FAT ALBERT WINE AND DINE. THATS HOW ALL FOOLISH FOOT SOLDIERS END UP. HITLER USED THEM AND DUMPED THEM, MUSOLINNI USED THEM AND DUMPED THEM, GENERAL FRANCO USED THEM AND DUMPED THEM. THEY ARE SO NAIVE, EVEN NOW UNDER FIVE IS USING THEM, YOU CAN SEE THEM FROM THE COMMENTS THEY POST ON THIS PAGE.

    • They will be released! Your foolish self should know that ballot papers from Chingola should never be transport to lusaka in a free and fair election. Until you parents start eating maggots will you realize that majority of Zambians are suffering because of shallow thinking individuals like you! I cast my Sword on you!

  8. They are all mature persons who can not be dictated to by the other but willingly partook as a game plan. What the motive was is still in the shell.

  9. The Judge is called DANCEWELL BOWA!!! They may just dance pellete from such. Surely some name changes are required. Why call yourself such ////

  10. The court proceedings is a disappointment to the part of the State. LT why are you not writing how cross-examination went on?. Are you also ashamed that things are favoring Mwaliteta?
