Manyinga District including three other districts in Northwestern province are threatened to be cut off from the rest of the country after the main Manyinga bridge has developed as major crack.
If the bridge collapses , Kabompo, Zambezi and Chavuma Districts too, will be cut off from the rest of the country.
The Councilor for Manyinga,Greg Kapenda said the bridge has developed serious cracks caused by continuous rainfall whichand it may collapse, anytime.
ZANIS reports that Mr. Kapenda said in an interview, today, that the state of the bridge is becoming a danger to unsuspecting motorists and pedestrians, alike.
Mr. Kapenda said he has since informed the Local Authority and the District Administration.
And Manyinga District Commissioner (DC) Queen Manela has disclosed that her Office has already written to the Provincial Road Development Agency RDA Office in Solwezi concerning the damages to the Bridge.
The DC, however disclosed that RDA Engineers have since mobilized equipment and are set to commence rehabilitation works soon.
There is a similar danger at Kamatanda between Livingstone and Kazungula. RDA needs to move in quickly to avoid total collapse of this culvate.
WHEN WAS this bridge constructed? Why is that RDA investigates its own poor handiwork, instead of an independent consultant? This scenario makes it clear that RDA is not transparent and must be cleared of all those misfits responsible for making our roads cost US$2 per kilometer when tarring! In Bots, one KM costs US$580,000 per KM!!

Its not the only bridge that has collapsed in Zambia….. Why does it become an issue to some people instead of asking govt to intervene. Some RDA officials are even staunchy upnd cadres and hail from north south western Zambia. We van carry out a head count.
