City of Lusaka downed hosts Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 4-1 on Monday at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira to confine the 9-time champions to their second straight defeat of the 2017 FAZ Super Division campaign.
The win for promoted City handed them their first league of the season after starting the campaign last week with a 1-0 home loss at the hands of current pacesetters Green Eagles.
Wanderers on the other hand tumbled to their second big defeat after they were thumped 3-0 away by Green Buffaloes on April 8 in Lusaka.
City cruised into the break against a disjointed Wanderers thanks to goals from Noel Phiri in the 7th minute and Clement Mundia in the 27th minute.
Roy Sakwanda added the third in the 49th minute minute before Wanderers’ Ghana-born striker Rahim Osumanu cut that lead to 3-1 in the 50th minute.
Osumanu was then denied a brace by the post in the 52nd minute as Wanderers tried to stamp their mark on a waterlogged pitch following a storm that hit Shinde at halftime.
However, City ensured Wanderers hand a mountain to climb thereafter when Dominic Mulenshi scored the fourth goal in the 62nd minute to send the home side to the bottom of the table.
