President Lungu should not set conditions for dialogue to clear political tension Chikuse

Republican Progressive Party (RPP) vice President Lesley Chikuse insists that President Edgar Lungu should not set conditions to dialogue with the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) because that is the only essential way to clear political tension in Zambia.

Speaking in an interview with Pan African Radio, Chikuse said the status quo about the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is not ideal for the republican President to seek recognition from the opposition UPND for them to dialogue with him.

He said President Lungu’s performance to national duties should not be based on recognition from the opposition political parties.

Chikuse stated that president Lungu has a duty to ensure that there is peace and harmony in Zambia as the current head of state.

He added that the conditions the PF are bringing to the fore for the two political parties to engage in dialogues are a clear indication that the ruling party is not ready to maintain peace in Zambia.

    • UPND must concede, accept we have an elected Government and President with Governing laws in the land. If these institutions do not exist and you believe Zambia has no laws to follow, then who would be engaged to make binding decisions for and on behalf of the state in any peace initiative? Resorting to subversive acts against the state and public assets will only dump parties to doom. Zambians do no honor anarchy. Political parties must not be falling for Joseph Koni tactics of destroying public properties and fueling despondency in societies.

  1. JUST ONE QUESTION MR CHIKUSE AND TO ALL THOSE INTELLIGENT ZAMBIANS TALKING DIALOGUE WITHOUT CONDITIONS, “IN WHAT CAPACITY WILL EDGAR LUNGU BE INVOLVED IN DIALOGUE WITH UPND AND HH”?

    • Right question Vuyo – Any sane person would want an answer to this question from the likes of Chikuse. Is this the quality of the opposition?

  2. I cant comment. All bloggers on this topic don’t match my smartness. If I comment, bloggers here will think we are on the same level.

  3. Let’s be real people, anybody suggesting that dialogue can take place without HH recognizing that ECL is republican president are out of their minds. I don’t know how many public properties must be lost before UPND can be seen for what they are … selfish individuals with no national interest at heart whatsoever! No rocket science here!

    • Let the treason case continue. Let Lungu declare his state of emergency. Let the arsonists be arrested. Let the World see Lungu for what he really is – a tinpot African dictator.

  4. So you want to be the one to set conditions to meet him for dialogue?? Where has the minds of all these failed politicians gone to??

  5. They just seek publicity – only to become known, no agenda, no member, no manifesto, no vision, no goal. Only to be known. Ata se bane!

  6. These one many partys are a problem. If no conditions are set then its not worthy having a dialogue. Every meeting has an agenda which defines who is doing what and when.
No conditions no dialogue – as simple as that.

  7. It is like in a home where the husband and wife are at loggerheads because of husbands infidelity. The wife calls elders for mediation and the husband says he wont attend if they are going to talk about his alledged extramarital affairs.

    • Exactly! Or a thief who insists that the stolen property must be recognised as his before he can talk to the burgled victim.
