Mr Hichilema counsels his wife Mutinta in court.

United Party for National Development (UPND)President Hakainde Hichilema says he would have loved to celebrate his birthday with family and thanking God.

Mr. Hichilema says he could not celebrate his 55th birthday owing to human circumstances that prevented his joyous day.

He says regardless of the bad situation, he has found strength in being among other citizens currently in the very difficult situation that exists in prisons and detention facilities.

Mr Hichilema noted that the circumstances are trying for individuals detained for purely political reasons in Chimbokaila and in other prisons around the country.

“Some do not have the privilege I enjoy of having so many citizens remembering me, but remember them constantly too. This birthday is dedicated to them,” said Hichilema.

“Ours is a fight for a just society and systems where all our citizens will be able to freely express themselves and participate in the politics and economy of our beloved country without facing reprisals from the state”.

He said he will emerge with more vigour to lead and unite our deeply divided and hurting nation and restore our pride as a country” he said.

And Mr. Hichilema encouraged his wife Mutinta Hichilema to be strong in this trying moment.

“To my dear wife, Mutinta, and family, I say stay strong and thank you for your continued support.Heartfelt thanks to the wider UPND family and the nation at large too,”said Hichilema

I doubt if a man who disrepects traffic laws when he is an opposition leader can respect any other law if he became a state president! He is slumbering dreamer through and through… Zambia can be worse of with this guy. I don’t believe Edgar is the best president Zambia can have, but among the 2016 candidates, he is the least evil…

Even driving in the way of the presidential motorcade. Sad for you once convicted ends your presidential race. It will be byebye to politics for you. Freedom has limits and its only enjoyed when practiced within the law. There is no freedom of expression and human rights when you disobey they laws. We all have rights and still enjoying our freedom of expression because we exercise them within the law.

Freedom fighters fought for our freedom before 1964.so yours HH is a tribal fight-simple!!
Moreover, you have to thank God HH in any situation you maybe!!ALL REAL CHRISTIANS THANK GOD IN ANY SITUATION AND EVERYWHERE!!
Besides,HH should make it clear that he is fighting for his fellow bantustans in 3.5 provinces because the rest of us in 6.5 provinces have never asked him to fight for our freedom which we already enjoy 24/7!!TRUTH BE TOLD,HH IS FIGHTING FOR HIS POCKET JUST LIKE ANY OTHER POLITICIAN!!
The best statement from HH would have been “i could have celebrated my 55th birthday home had i behaved well in mongu!!”HH SHOULD NEVER INVOLVE INNOCENT ZAMBIANS IN HIS PROBLEMS.BA HH AYO “MALIBU YAKUILOMBELA!!”

He has himself to blame for being in prison on his 55th birthday, so what is the fuss? Who the hell does he and his UPND chaps think he is? mwatusabila.

God is never too big or too little for your problems. Even if HH was to the only sinner in Zambia or world, Jesus could still have come to die for him. Amazing Love.
What happened in Mongu can not be compared to our sins against Jesus, hence Jesus died for our sins. Don’t we sin every day to Jesus?
I will never glory in your circumstances and say that you are being taught a lesson. As much as I will not love to see my enemies suffer , so I can never join in the wagon of rejoicing over your misfortune. For I believe that GOD ‘s will prevail in every man’s purpose…
My plea to you is that pray for your enemies and never get bitter. Let GOD watch over your soul…..

God requires you to obey and respect authorities. If you behaved like God asked you could have been home. But you disrespected authority and your little f00ls who guide you were actually insulting the police like you did at your home and fortunately this is on record. So pray to repent and behave or else if you continue your chinampofu fight for so called freedom, you might break another law and end up in jail again. Meanwhile learn your lessons and its good young ones have learnt that disobeying laws is criminal.

amandapalmer, haven’t you ever read a verse in the bible that says those that saw trouble will reap trouble? Such is life. HH is only reaping what he sowed. Therefore, people are only saying that let him pay for what he did. They are not rejoicing .This is Biblical! Read Proverbs over and over, it teaches us how to live with others and the consequences of our deeds good or bad.

The ex-wife of former Liberian President Charles Taylor has appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London to face torture charges.
Agnes Reeves Taylor, 51, is suspected of ordering and carrying out torture between 1989 and 1991, during a civil war in the West African state.

Just wish him happy birthday you malicious paranoid PF bootlickers. After all, he does represent other unjustly incarcerated Zambians awaiting trial. If some of you only knew the anguish that thousands of Zambians experience in deplorable prison conditions awaiting trials that take years to commence, your blinded allegiances would perhaps begin to assume some humanity – but then,it is too much to hope for people who cannot see beyond their noses until something bites them in the butt.

PF Bloggers will never get it. HH has not broken any law. The Motorcade Charge was dropped by the State thru a Nolle. We now want to know what Charge the State is slapping HH for to justify Treason. We want to know what covert activities HH and his workers undertook to overthrow GRZ. What military force HH assembled to overthrow GRZ ? The State will struggle to prove that HH and his workers used force to overthrow GRZ. Let the State Commit HH to the HC so that Trial can start. We cant wait for the drama to start as State Witnesses will shiver under Defence Cross Examination. Bring it on.

Yes for sure you deserve to be inside even beyond this. You pocketed a lot of our money through privatisation of our Zambian industries, God will always catchup with thieves in one way or another. You call yourself rich from the money you stole from the Zambians and you still come back and think you can rule us. Better be there. Africa twasebana.
