The Young African Leaders Network has joined many condemning UPND aligned opposition political parties urging the international community to suspend aid to Zambia over the incarceration of Hakainde Hichilema.

YALI executive director Andrew Ntewewe said that the call to freeze aid to Zambia was selfish and would only hurt ordinary citizens.

Ntewewe said that it was irresponsible for anyone to push for the isolation of Zambia on grounds of the arrest and detention of an opposition leader.

Like FDD leader Antonio Mwanza, Ntewewe described the desire of the opposition trio as plain selfish.

Last week opposition leaders Nevers Mumba (MMD faction), Charles Milupi (ADD) and Mike Mulongoti (People’s Party) called for the IMF and other donors to withhold aid to Zambia to pressure President Edgar Lungu’s government release Hichilema

  1. But it’s the donors who are always quoting good governance and the rule of law before they give aid.

    • Very true, the donors will surely cut down on the hand outs.
The donors hate to waste their countries “tax money” on vagrant delinquent governments like Lungu’s PF.

    • Some time back i had put up a bet with Mushota, i said the IMP will not give Zambia the bail out loan….

And yes we are all telling the world not to give you money… i have done my part and written to my MP here in Germany.

  2. Ka Andrew! the donors can smell the pf shiit all by themselves. Your statement is in vain talk to Lungu himself, tell Lungu to deal with he’s insecurity.

    • ITS LIKE PROMOTING IGNORANCE HAS BECOME A BIG BUSINESS IN PF, THEY ARE EVEN COMPETING. I PRAY THAT YOU ARE NOT BEING PAID DONOR MONEY FOR ALL THIS. LET COMMON SENSE PREVAIL.

    • But how come only parliamentarians and other chaps making noise and not Governments. Remember the British High Commissioner’s comments about that stupid stunt? he called it “very provocative”. In other countries this man would be a cabbage by now. Thanks Lungu for his humbleness. The man is even tweeting from Mukobeko Yaba!!!

  3. WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT HH THAT THOSE VILLAGE BUMPKINS SHOULD BE ASKING IMF TO WITHOLD WHATEVER MONEY? HH IS JUST A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CRIMINAL WHO WOULD TURN INTO A SERIOUS DICTATOR IF CARELESSLY ELECTED AS PRESIDENT.

    • We are all special, including ediots like yourself. I would stand up to defend a fool like you if your rights are being violated.

    • We are all special, including ediots like yourself. I would stand up to defend a full like you if your rights are being violated.

  4. What do Zambians take donors for? Kids? Which donor can ignore the current abuses of State Institutions? Which donor worth his salt can ignore the atrocity of the Executive Arm of Government meeting with the Judiciary to collude on how to fix a political opponent? Wait the EU is coming after Zambia!

  5. donors have a right to know what kind of people are given their money and how safe is it that it is going to paid back in full of course with interest . to risk the money to a country with unstable government will be at own risk.of course the ones to suffer most are the poor ones due to poor governance of their leaders.so the men are very much correct, donors its up to you to risk your money. follow the private media for the truth instead of state hopeless medias

    • If you are going to create problems in a country and think that you will squeeze the country through crying “poor governance” to donors, you will be alone in jail. Donors look at both sides – you think there is no donor aid going to Uganda just because you are saying Museveni is a dictator?

  6. What do people like Ntewewe contribute to Zambia? Has he ever worked like what many of us did before we left Zambia? No wonder the country is such sh…t.

  7. @Lipkwa:and what are people like HH contributed to Zambia apart from corruptly getting rich via privatization in the end sending many miners to early graves?
No donor country worth the salt may suspend AID to Zambia because of arrogant HH.the current British HC openly told the world that HH’s behaviour in mongu was very provocative(i.e.bad).many countries offering aid to Zambia have embassies in Lusaka,so they have received accurate news about what HH did and the way he behaved after losing 2016 elections.thats why they have kept quiet!!DONOR AID SHALL CONTINUE FLOWING INTO ZAMBIA AS LAW BREAKER HH ROTS IN MUKOBEKO, AWAITING THE COURTS TO CLEAR OR CONVICT HIM!!!
THOSE EMPTY APPEALS BY MILUPI,MUMBA AND MULONGOTI ONLY END IN THE MAST NEWSPAPER-FINITO!!
    Many Zambians have even forgotten…

  8. What these selfish politicians don’t understand is that the so-called donors thrive on chaotic African governments. Zambia has been a hard nut to crack for too long thanks to the determination of Kaunda and Co. in uniting us. These Id10t5 are nothing but unpatriotic opportunists who would stop at nothing to advance their selfish interests. HH is no Messiah, his behavior has put off many potential voters and his arrest has been a relief to many who saw him as a disruptive loser. These people are not representing anyone but themselves.

  9. If that was the case, the World bank, AFDB and EU would not be giving Zambia a dime. So far over $500mn has been dispersed. Uganda are still receiving aid, so are countries like the DRC. The UPND should stop acting like we have a failed state over one person. That’s his fight with the state.

  10. THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANYONE TO ADVISE THEM, THEY HAVE THEIR REPRESENTATIVES WHO I’M SURE ARE WATCHING WHAT IS HAPPENING

  11. Sorry the “donors ” don’t care who receives their cash as long as there’s accountability. Egypt, Saudi Arabia are among the most oppressive regimes in the world yet they get a lions share in western assistance. Even the ungovernable DRC enjoys some kind of donor assistance. It’s what they get out of it that matters. Libyan suffered under the Western countries simply because it never went with begging bowl to them. Next will be Qatar because most of its human development is above that of the USA.

  12. Donors give cash in exchange to influence over your country. The worst thing you could ever do is ask the donors to stop giving you cash. If that were to happen, Zambia would have been invaded by paid militia a long time ago. This is the same concept, Dambisa Moya tried to highlight with dead aid which Bill Gates did not like one bit.
