The Dundu-mwezi community in Kalomo District in Southern Province have expressed its willingness to welcome a Republican President for the second time ever in its history.

Chief Chikankata of the Tonga speaking people particularly says he and his subjects look forward to President Lungu’ s visit to the area this week.

The traditional leader said he together with his subjects is so happy that President Lungu will finally be visiting Dundu-Mwezi constituency. The traditional ruler said this in a telephone interview from his palace, yesterday.

He said the visit by the Head of State displaces his true statesmanship by fulfilling that upon winning last year’s elections he was going to be the second Republican President to visit Dundu-Mwezi constituency after the late president Michael Chilufya Sata.

Chief Chikanta said the visit of the Republican President will provide an opportunity for him and traditional leaders to share the many challenges affecting the people in the area since Zambia’s independence in 1964.

He revealed that the traditional leadership in Southern province has resolved to turn up in numbers to receive the Head of State when he visits the constituency this week.

Among the traditional leaders who have confirmed participation include Chief Muchila, Chief Mungobela, Chief Siachitema and Chieftainess Mwenda of the Basanje Tonga speaking people in Chikankata district in Southern province.

Other chiefs are yet to confirm their participation to welcome Head of State visit.

And Chief Siachitema of the Tonga speaking people says he will also be one of the traditional leaders who will receive President Lungu .

Speaking through his spokesperson Johns Chiboola , today, Chief Siachitema said President Lungu will be remembered for his various development projects he has brought to the constituency and the surrounding areas such as Itezh-tezhi District.

There was no doubt that the people of Dundu-Mwezi will be besieged with un precedent infrastructure development which includes the construction of the much talked Dundu-Mwezi road and the establishment of communication towers.

ZANIS further reports that Mr Chiboola said a committee has since been formed to go round the Chiefdom to inform people about the visit of the head of state in Dundu-Mwezi.

Meanwhile, Chieftainess Mwenda of the Tonga speaking people in Chikankata district in Southern province told ZANIS in a telephone interview that she will also be among the traditional leaders who will receive the head of state.

Chieftainess Mwenda said it is gratifying to learn that finally, the head of state President Lungu will be visiting the area to familiarize himself with many challenges the people of Dundu-Mwezi have been facing in the two chiefdom namely, Chikankata and Siachitema chiefdoms in Kalomo district in Southern province.

The traditional leader said President Lungu has displayed true statesmanship and that the he is a man of his words.

She urged the people of Dundu-Mwezi and indeed all the traditional leaders in Southern province to attend the scheduled visit of the head of state in Dundu-Mwezi constituency.

    • Please Mr President – go by road so that you can see for yourself how bad the road between Chirundu turnoff on the T1/Lusaka/Livingstone road. The dual carriage way between The turnoff and Monze is long over due. This is a very important route for export and holidays as it leads to our tourist capital city. Mazabuka needs to be established as a major connecting town between the two capitals namely Lusaka and Livingstone. Look at the state of the roads in Mazabuka Your Excellency. Mazabuka is a self sufficient town due the major sugar and related industries.

    • MUSHOTA HAS SPOKEN
      ==============
I can’t put it any better, but he(ECL) must be judged at the end of his tenure. Otherwise, so far so good. The slogan of sonta epowabomba is seriously making GBVM have diarrhea and taking a toll at the miserable terrorists. Hats off to one Chagwa! Zambia is in your hands, use it well. Beat those drums down south. Show those HH bewitched communities that you care for them. Give them your ear and starting working. We know that you will not implement every project there but start from somewhere. The death of UPNDestruction can not be the final chapter of MOTHER ZAMBIA.

    • Do not trust what you read and hear in news Tongas are the decentralised type of a tribe. Who can hastate when brown envelopes have been dangled.

    • Charity begins at home, Mr President. In the cities, you slander Tongas and blame them on practically all evils, including the fires that your PF thugs are initiating. Now you think those poor villagers can be used for your political gains!!

Besides, they dont have a choice if you want to go there, its part of Zambia. If only you would let the opposition visit every corner of Zambia without any attacks.

    • This recognition business must take up a big chunk of the National budget. Was it in Mutati’s 17 billion sorry 7 billion Kwacha budget or is he using the emergency fund meant for the city market fire traders support. Traveling around the country for recognition. Edgar sit down man.

    • ECL must protect himself before he goes there! Nindoshi sheka sheka kulya and they are out of blood in the name of their Lame leader HH.

  2. HEECL SHOULD ALSO TRY TO FIND OUT HOW THEY MANAGED TO MOBILIZE 30,000 VOTES AGAINST HIS 200 VOTES IN LAST YEARS ELECTIONS. IT SEEMS THE RIGGING OF VOTES ONLY OCCURRED IN TONGALAND. THIS IS AN IMPOVERISHED COMMUNITY WITH FEW PEOPLE. WHERE DID THE VOTES COME FROM?

  3. Chief Chikankata of the Tonga speaking people particularly says he and his subjects look forward to President Lungu’ s visit to the area this week.

  4. Just release HH; this is just PF propaganda news; the chiefs will welcome you because you’re their subject but they are not happy with your evil acts Mr Lungu;release HH;

  5. Dundumwezi MP does not recognise president Lungu. We wait and see how he will address him or maybe he will be advised to abscond by his president. The president of Zambia is duty bound to take development to every corner of the country as we are all Zambians. Its not about PF or UPND but thr great nation Zambia.

  6. Lungu using money from toll gates to ferry PF thugs to SP so as to look popular…..

BTW lungu and PF have inadvertently given a one Larry mwetwa a platform to highlight Zambians human rights abuses under lungu.

I , like many did not know who Larry was until yesterday……dont be surprised if you see him on news channels debating Zambians decent into dictatorship.

Larry , use this opportunity well.

    • Free HH or take him to court and charge him….stop blocking the petition…..and stop your arson attacks just to justify a SOE…..

  7. BREAKING NEWS on BBC.
A huge fire has gutted a Camden Lock Market in London. This comes barely a month after a fire gutted a Tower block in London. These fires come soon after the elections.
So now these fires are caused by opposition? And England is going to declare a State of emergency?

    • @One Nation,
LOL, Am I getting too close to the bone for your comfort? Your vain attempt to justify Lungu’s unconvincing position on the state of emergency is noted. For you to think it is silly, and to pretend you do NOT see parallels between fires in Zambia and fires in UK, with totally divergent responses from the two Govts (One subject and in search of a pre-meditated excuse, the other one resolutely objective in spite of the fatalities) speaks a lot about your true intent. Or is it a case of your questionable IQ, and you are in over your head on all this?

  8. If they can cancel their own traditions, how wise can they be to receive the causer of the cancellation?

  9. We hope to see this reception among all the Chiefs in our country. This is reconciliation. A leader is a leader. Support and acceptance from the Chiefs is very encouraging. Well done our Chiefs.

  10. The chiefs are showing great leadership here. Your son is your son whether of a vagabond nature or otherwise. Receive EL with open arms and talk to him at length about your basic needs that side. Your son will listen .
CONGRATS once more to you the Chiefs

    • Your son is your son! My foot! Do you honestly believe that those chiefs like Edgar Lungu? They are probably doing it for brown envelopes.Wako ni wako

  11. When they tell you that Tongas are peaceful people you always say otherwise. Evenen the leaders you have arrested on flimse chrges are peaceful men. That is hypocricy at its best……, shame on you PF

  12. Interesting! Trying to win the hearts of the people of an area where he was rejected most. It won’t work. Let’s face it: The only thing that will please the people of Dundumwezi and every right-minded Zambian is the release of HH.

  13. Shameful man who knows is not recognised and comes with thugs as show of force to thensure weak. Whathe a shame

  14. The Upnd cadets have started insulting before the president goes to Dundu Mwenzi. Some chiefs in southern province have realise that ECL is more important than the lame who is in custody and that E C Lungu is still the mos popular politician in Zambia. Watch out 2021. God bless you Mr president. We love you.

  16. Please LT up your reporting and take just a bit of time to crosscheck simple facts before giving “news.” There is no Chief Chikankata of the area Dundu-mwezi but its Chief Chikanta! The two areas Chikanta and Chikankata are poles apart and belong to different districts, Kalomo and Chikankata respectively! I wonder whether its trying to show an element of being bright or that you do some research in attributing Chieftainess Mwenda of the Basanje blah blah, for she is leader of many clans of her chiefdom!

  17. It’s a pity zambians have short memory,When my President ECL won the election he held a really at woodlands stadium and said he was grateful for the 200 that voted for him and promised to visit them…even if some tongas are bad, Government is still going to development to the area…One Zambia One Nation.

  18. GO AND SEAT ON THEIR SEAT AND WHEN YOU COME BACK FROM DUDUMWEZI YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. I ADVISE YOU CHAKOLWA
