State House says allegations that President Edgar Lungu is Malawian are absurd.
Some sections have alleged that Lungu is not a Zambian but a Malawian.
But President Lungu’s Press Aide Amos Chanda has dismissed the rumours.
Appearing on Prime TV’s “Oxygen of Democracy”, on Monday evening Mr Chanda described questions on President Lungu’s citizenship as absurd.
When the Presenter Kalani Muchima insisted that an opposition politician Mike Mulongoti has gone public saying President Lungu is not a Zambian, Mr. Chanda said people should not pay attention to disgruntled politicians like Mr Mulongoti.
“That is absurd, it is just in the interest of freedom of speech why I have allowed you to ask me that question. President Lungu is from Petauke in the Eastern Zambia,” he said.

President Lungu’s mother is from Petauke while his Father is from the Senga speaking people of Chama. Both parents were Zambians having born in the then Northern Rhodesia. His extended family members or call them clan members are all over. Stop hallucinating about his nationality. Let’s concentrate on pleading for Chitombwa’s freedom post conviction in January 2018.
Why are we wasting time over such basic issues. Lungu is a Zambian from Malawi just like RB and Kaunda. Chiluba was also a Zambian from Congo just like Sata was a Zambian from TZ. There are a lot of Patels from India who are Zambians, and the list goes on. What’s the big deal?

Even KK is from Chinsali and NOT Nyasaland. It doesn’t matter anymore where you are born from but only your parents matter. Let’s move on regardless of whether your parentage is Chinese, it’s food on the table that matters
This debate is a bon starter. To say that he is a Malawian is just guessing. Just because his mother is from Petauke, then we’ll conclude that his father is Malawian? The fact is that he doesn’t know his father. And I think it’s normal for someone not to know his or her father. Life is like that for many people.
Even in America, white settlers are busy pointing shameless fingers at other immigrants ‘of colour’ (as if they themselves are colourless!!) accusing them to be ‘foreigners’, including the indigenous red Americans. When you check, it’s all an offshoot of racism; and in our case tribalism. So sad how low some of us get to sink! Please can you focus on building a credible political agenda and appeal to the electorate without any character assassination please!
What is wrong in being a Malawian? Rupiah Banda was born in Southern Rhodesia and you let him be President. Was he elected president (albeit dubiously) because he is a Malawian?

He told us not long ago how petrol will cost K5/l after lungu signed some mega deals in Saudi.. …just recently he said it was UPND who started the fire in the market when police have not finished their investigations , maybe he knew of that fire beforehand.

If easterners are Malawians, then let’s give up eastern province from Luangwa river to the rightful owners. And while at it, give southern province to Mugabe’s Zimbabwe. Oh and western and northwestern to Angola, Luapula and Copperbelt to Congo DR, northern and Muchinga to Tanzania.
