President Edgar Lungu with I.G Kakoma Kanganja at KK international airport upon his return from South Africa
Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has warned Police officers across the country not to abuse the sweeping powers they have been given following the invocation of Article 31 of the Constitution.

And the Police Chief has assured the business community and the people of Zambia the police will be there to protect then and their property, hence they should go about with their normal lives and business.

He has also assured President Edgar Lungu who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the nation as a whole that the Police are equal to the task at hand and have resolved to see to it that people trying to create anarchy in the country are brought to book.

Mr. Kanganja has urged Police officers to work without fear or favour during the 90 days period and be on alert following the spate of criminal activities where some individuals have torched government infrastructure thereby causing anarchy in the country.

The Police Chief said this at Lilayi Police Training College today when he addressed Police officers undergoing an Extensive Training on Traffic matters.

  1. I hope the move will yield it’s intended purpose. Police officers need to be partial and fair in their duties.

    • I will be happy to see or hear of one of these PF supporters being beaten up and bundled by the very PF police. You will be beaten, watch the space. Me I will be here ku Australia chilling and smiling.

  2. Its surprising how people are posting less and less. This article 31 is really a deterrent to blogging! I think this is a good move for some people to find other things to do rather than everyday postings.

  3. The police have been ineffective through and through because of bad leadership from Kanganja. How is the SOE going to make them efficient. The police service needs a complete overhaul. It has to be reformed.

    • Your vivid opinion; but we have a very complex issue at hand where members of our civil communities have ganged up in clandestine and guerrilla warlike formation to bring anarchy in our midst. This is Politically sponsored terrorism – lets not ignore the writing on the wall. MWEETWA OWN-UP before the long arm of the law visits you in your bedroom
