UNDP has been supporting the government of Zambia since 2011 with the implementation of its Global Fund grants.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced that it has signed a US$6.3 million for the design and construction of four pharmaceutical warehouses.

The warehouses will be constructed in Mansa, Mpika, Chipata and Choma with funding from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund).

The signing was witnessed by Medical Stores Managing Director of Medical Stores Chikuta Mbewe.

Mr Mbewe said the facilities will help improve the supply chain management and delivering of medicines and equipment to the people of Zambia.

UNDP has partnered with the Global Fund since 2003 to support the implementation of programmes targeting the three diseases in low and middle income countries.

  1. the move is welcome and its aimed at improving people’s lives by way of providing timely medical logistics near to the people. to people commenting politically motivated comments i can say you dont have the interest of people at heart. for once lets look at zambia outside outside politics.

  2. @Sinene. I take it ” people” are only found in North Eastern Rhodesia hence 3 warehouses and inly one token one for Northwestern Rhodesia. Or maybe thats where the sick people are!!. Definitely skewed politically motivated dustribution. I would say 1 for Kasama, one for Mongu, one for Solwezi and one for Chipata. The distribution should be provincial towns far from the line of rail. People drive from Choma to Lusaka and back same day. Not so for Chipata, Solwezi Mongu or Kasama, Mansa to be covered by Kasama. Much better if each province had one
