The hour has come to...MMD acting Lusaka Province Chairman William Banda addresses a meeting at Kabanana Basic School in Lusaka
Veteran Politician William Banda

Trial  has failed to take off in a case in which Veteran Politician William Banda and 10 other  United Party for National Development (UPND)  cadres are charged with the offence of obstruction of police officers.

This is because one of the suspects and the prosecutor handling the matter were not before the court.

The suspects include William Banda, Gilbert Liswaniso, UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema’s press Secretary Brian Mwiinga and others.

In this matter, it is alleged that the suspects obstructed police officers when they tried to stop them from arresting Mr. Hichilema on April 10, 2017.

Lusaka Magistrate Fides Hamaundu noted that trial has delayed starting and urged parties to be present during the next court sitting.

  1. Does the Judicially have any Leadership? this is another useless case, there are lot of people who want to have a day in court and have been behind bars for over 3 years !

  2. The laziest ministry in Zambia is Justice.
But, in general Zambians we are too slow. Courts are only quick way of proving the fact.
In Zambia lunch is from 12 to 14hrz.
America is 30 minutes, anytime you

  3. William Banda is a failed politician instead of being an inspiration to young politicians,He has become an embarrassment.
young politicians, run from this man he is the most old indiscipline/self pronounced politician with no leadership qualities .,Good at violence only (the same when he was in MMD).

  4. Since when did Tekere become a ‘Veteran Politician’?

LT stop this wanton abuse of terms or go back to Journalism School.

Veteran cadre, yes; or better still – oldest cadre. Veteran politician, NO …NO …NO!

All Zambia’s veteran politicians were well listed in social studies and civics text books and tekere came nowhere near that revered class. So stop laundering the hoodlum!

  5. Stop it please! Let now concentrate on advocating for dialogue. Isn’t this matter connected to HH case? Why then waste time and resources on it? Peace is knocking at the door. State of emergency Kuya bebele. Viva Zambia viva democracy.

  6. It is only in this failed state called Zambia where suspect are assumed guilty before they are heard in the court of law, and some citizens either love it that were or they are so ignorant of human right laws. It is the duty of human rights organizations to teach the citizens of their rights especially concerning court process.

  7. WHEN PF FAILS TO GIVE EVIDENCE AND FACTS IN COURT IT IS CALLED NOLLE. SO PF IS NAME AS NOLLE IN COURT. I EXPECT THEM IN SEPTEMBER TO HAVE ANOTHER SHE- NOLLE, NOLLE PF. LET US CALL PF GOVERNMENT AS NOLLE. WHO IS NOLLE? IT IS PF WHO IS CALLED NOLLE. POLICE AND THE PROSECUTOR ARE CALLED NOLLE.
