Zambia to host 2017 COSAFA U20 Cup

Zambia will defend their COSAFA U20 Cup title on home soil this December.

FAZ confirmed on Monday that Zambia will for the first time hosts the tournament at the end of the year.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is pleased to announce that it will host the 2017 COSAFA U-20 Youth Championship,” FAZ spokesperson Desmond Katongo said.

“The decision was arrived at after last Saturday’s FAZ Executive Committee Meeting held in Lusaka.
FAZ has since written to COSAFA to confirm the exact dates of the tournament that is usually held in December every year.

“Zambia is the reigning champions after having won the tournament in South Africa in 2016.”

Zambia beat hosts South Africa 2-1 in the final on December 16 played at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenberg to collect an unprecedented 11th Cosafa U20 Cup title.
