FIFA rejects Chipolopolo’s protest over disallowed goal in Nigeria match

Share

FIFA has thrown out Zambia’s protest, regarding the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on October 7 in Uyo.

The Super won the match 1-0 and qualified for their third straight World Cup, with a match to spare in African Qualifying Group B.

But the Football Association of Zambia were aggrieved that the referee, Joshua Bondo, was not entirely fair in his handling of the match.

FAZ filed a formal protest to FIFA asking them to look into the matter.

The Chipolopolo are angry that their ‘goal’ was disallowed by Bondo.

The goal in question was scored after one of the assistant referees, had clearly flagged for offside and effectively stopped play.

However, in a letter addressed to FAZ and signed by Julien Deux of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, the world football governing body dismissed the case for lacking merit, telling the Zambians to accept the result and referring them to Article 15, Paragraph 6 of the World Cup regulations.

FIFA said there was “no evidence of any infringement of the regulations by the referees”.

  1. Hopeless FAZ, we lost fair and square. Hopeless Kamanga, after telling us you will not protest and then you go ahead and protest a lost cause. The journey was derailed at Levy, when we lost to Nigeria. We met a not so indomitable Cameroun and sang praises of Wada-Wada (more like Blaaah …Blaaah!!) because of a draw when the Indomitable Lions were there for the taking. We comforting ourselves that we lost 0-1 but we played well. We did not play well, we played one route, kick the ball upfront and the strikers will run for it and hope they will score. It points to the bench and to FAZ. Either get a proper coach or send the technical bench for refreshers on a continuous basis.

  2. Fantastic decision by FIFA. You don’t go to the World Cup by merely defeating Algeria and having a boastful Coach! The Zambian Team has a bright future if it can be kept together for another 1 year under a well tested coach.Qualifying for the mundial brings a lot of tension and drama. Argentina almost didn’t qualify even with Messi etc. You also need experienced players to do the job. Some few months ago, Nigeria paraded a youthful team against SA in an Afcon competition and lost. That loss opened our eyes to reality and we had to mix the Team up with experience.Zambia has to also blend the Team with experienced players to do so well. Now that the qualifiers are almost over, Zambians should not lose hope, shouldn’t start calling for the heads of FAZ officials etc. This is the time for…

  3. Zambian Fans are just a bunch of jokers.Just read the comments.
First you insult FAZ for not protesting the goal .After they protest on your behalf and FIFA rejects the complaint you insult FAZ again .
Mwebantu learn to SHUTUP and leave football to people who understand it better.

  4. Zambia should learn how to accept defeat. This your coach is too loquacious and boastful. I don’t like him for his garrulous pre-match briefings. He should next time allow his work to speak about him on the pitch. The truth is that in football for now, Nigeria is ahead of Zambia. They demonstrated this in Ndola and in Uyo. I’m sure this Nigeria can win world cup if all hands are placed on desk.

  5. Use those higher offices to sell Zambia rightly. Was there anything to protest about in that game. If you watch again, you will see a penalty which was never given to Nigeria. Should they protest too. We failed along time ago. In this match again, the way we positioned Mulenga and Fashion, was toothless upfront but just standing and shouting without analysing the flow. Can you win when front liners are dropping beyond centre to get the ball? Kamanga and your mates, take the Coach for training abroad than worsting time protesting.

  6. JUST ACCEPT THE RESULTS,YOU FORGET THAT YOU HAVE A COACH WHO IS DULL.ZAMBIA HAS GOOD PLAYERS THE PROBLEM IS THE COACH.ICHIPUBA.USING NGONGA ,FOR NIGERIA GAME.UBUPUBA.

  7. I don’t understand these Zambians do u knw more than fifa?. u guys said Nigeria bribe the refree, did Nigeria bribe fifa too?
