North-Western Province Minister, Richard Kapita says government remains committed to ensuring that developmental projects earmarked to be implemented in the region are done.

Mr. Kapita said government has shown commitment towards ensuring that all projects are executed.

He told ZANIS in an interview that all road projects in the province will be worked on just like the Solwezi-Chingola road and the Independence dual carriage way.

Mr. Kapita said the ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has assured that money will be released in 2018 for the upgrading of the Solwezi- Kipushi road, Kasempa-Kaoma, Zambezi-Watopa and the maintenance of the Solwezi -Mwinilunga roads.

He added that the 26 kilometre township roads in Solwezi district will also be done in 2018 hence urged people to exercise patience.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kapita has disclosed that a donor has shown willingness to put up a water system in Mushindamo district to ensure that people have access to clean and safe water supply.

He said it is unfortunate that Mushindamo residents have continued drawing water from neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) due to lack of water supply in the district.

People in Mushindamo district do not have access to water and have for a long time relied on water from DRC.

  1. Kasempa-Kaoma and Solwezi-Kipushi streches are economic roads. The former connects the mines in the NWest to Walvis Bay while the latter connects the NWest and Western provinces to the yawning markets for agricultural produce in tl Congo’s Katanga. No political appeasement here, only economic prudence !

  2. NORTH-WESTERN PROVINCE PRODUCES MOST OF THE COUNTRY’S WEALTH- IMPROVING ALL NORTH-WESTERN PROVINCE’S TOWNS TO BEAUTIFUL CLEAN CITIES WITH PROPER DUAL CARRIAGE ROADS IN ALL THOSE TOWNS, ECONOMIC STATUS OF ALL PEOPLE AND TOWNS, PROPER MUNICIPAL FACILITIES MAKING THE PROVINCE MORE ATTRACTIVE TO MORE INVESTMENTS IS JUST A QUESTION OF POLITICAL OBLIGATION AND IT DOESN’T TAKE AN INGINENIOUS POLITICIAN TO UNDERSTAND. NORTH-WESTERN PROVINCE CANNOT PRODUCE WEALTH FOR THE COUNTRY ONLY TO DEVELOP LUSAKA, LIVINGSTONE AND THE COPPERBELT. IN FACT THIS TIME WE ARE TALKING NORTH-WESTERN PROVINCE SHOULD HAVE HAD AT LEAST FIVE PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITIES OFFERING HIGH QUALITY PROGRAMMES IN ALL ENGINEERING FACULTIES.
