Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila has said government will not leave out Southern province from the ruling party’s development despite being a strong hold for the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND).
Mr. Mwila, who was on the tour of all the districts in Southern province, said in Siavonga that the township roads in Livingstone have been completed.
He said government will now move in to complete the township roads in Choma and Monze.
He disclosed that government has constructed a hospital and a secondary in Gwembe district to uplift the lives of the valley people.
Mr. Mwila said the Road Development Agency (RDA) will be on the ground to work on the township roads in Siavonga adding that government will also look at the possibility of constructing a district hospital in Siavonga.
He also told the members to start preparing for 2021 general elections and ensure that all structures on the ground are working.
He further said the party has been failing to gain enough support in Southern province because of having weak structures on the ground.
Mr. Mwila also urged members to be committed to the party and be united for them to have a solid base as they approach 2021.
“This year we have to start preparing for 2021 election. Let us get the UPND members and have them join us and all the structures have to be put in place because without them we cannot go anywhere,” Mr. Mwila said.
He has meanwhile warned the PF leadership in Siavonga district to desist from bickering as they risked being dissolved.
He said the PF will not allow incompetent people to hold leadership positions noting that the party wants people that can work to strengthen grass root structures.
The ruling party SG told the PF leadership that it will be helped for them to ensure that the party is strong at the grassroots.
And Southern province PF chairperson Evans Lawrence also urged the Siavonga party leadership to be united so that they can help to rebuild the party.
Mr. Evans noted that it is difficult to attract new members to the party when the leadership is fighting among one another and it can make the party fail to grow in the district.
The Secretary General and his team, which included members of the central committee and the PF Southern province leadership, was on a tour of the province to gauge the strength of the party and how it can be mobilized in the region.
Meanwhile, Southern Province Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso has refuted social media reports that Patriotic Front Secretary General,Davies Mwila was denied police escort.
Kapeso stated that the Police in the province has given Security to many people if the threat was imminent or suspected.
He said it’s normal police duty to protect lives and property.
He said people are aware of the tense relationship between the ruling Patriotic Front supporters and the opposition UPND especially in Southern Province.
Who is this Davies Mwila to give silly ignorant statement like that …are you using PF money to fund all those projects? These dumb bells have become so arrogant that they do not know what belongs to GRZ and what belongs to PF…am sure he is driving around in a govt vehicle with a private plate!!

When you say: “develop Southern Province,” are you talking about building a dual carriage road from Lusaka to Livingstone, or building dipping tanks for farmers in Southern Province, or just building a roundabout in Chisekese? Please try to be specific as to the nature of development.

He’s the CEO of the party in government and he has every right to talk about the country’s development matters because it’s his party’s development agenda as set out in their manifesto that is being implemented by boma.How are you going to judge his party’s performance against what they promised if there’s a disconnect between boma and the ruling party?

It’s your responsibility to develop the WHOLE country. Southern Province is part of Zambia and they pay taxes too. They may have different political opinions from yours, but they’re still part of the Zambian family. Stop the divisive insinuations.

If a new president is elected in 2021, he’ll need to make all of them account for their wealth. Whoever cannot explain how they got rich while in office, will have to forfeit the wealth to the state, with possible prison time. I suggest 20 years minimum for corruption.

In what capacity did he say that because we know that he is a party member and the funds to develop the country do not come from PF but government coffers. Tongas are my cousins but naturally most of them are tribalistic in nature, they attach more loyalty to their TRIBESMEN than non tongas. No matter whatever good projects the government does for them it will never be appreciated as long as HH is not in the state house. If what Davies Mwila said was spoken by HH this was going to be a cup of tea to them and he would have been praised day and night. I personally agree with Chishimba Kambwili when he said that if Jesus was to stand against HH in southern province, Jesus was going to lose the elections based on the tribe ( jesus was JEW).
