Government says it is disappointed with media reports suggesting that it will consider research on witchcraft as a science that can be used productively for the benefit of the country.

Information and Broadcasting Services Minister who is also Chief Government Spokesperson Kampamba Mulenga said the allegations are blatant falsehoods coming from people who have nothing good to offer to the nation.

Ms Mulenga said government is aware that there is a group of people that is spreading malicious statements through various media platforms, bent on destroying government’s image.

This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS today.

The Minister said some people are so preoccupied with throwing salvos at government hence they are blind to see what government is doing to uphold Zambia as a Christian nation.

She added that contrary to the allegations, President Lungu’s administration has and will always uphold Zambia’s status as a Christian nation as enshrined in the preamble of the constitution.

Ms. Mulenga stated that the establishment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and National Guidance and the declaration of 18th October as a national day of prayer and fasting are some of the ways in which the government is upholding the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.

She said it is common knowledge that Christianity and witchcraft are poles apart and cannot co-exist.

Ms. Mulenga added that it is absurd to suggest that government wants to consider research on witchcraft as a science that can be used productively to benefit the country.

She pointed out that government will not be swayed by selfish and irresponsible people from its unflinching resolve to maintain Zambia as a Christian nation.

Ms. Mulenga reaffirmed the supremacy of God in the affairs of the nation and dedicating the country to a future of continued peace and unity of its people anchored on sound Christian principles.

  2. A drift into the abyss! They are called “powers of darkness.” They have existed all over the world, not just in Africa.

  3. How serious should this be taken?

Anyhow, witchcraft is factually a form of science and there is already a Hogwarts University at Czocha Castle in Poland which awards Masters in Wizardry. The devil is working hard to fortify his domain.

  4. The kind of political tactics the UPND and NDC employ are the equivalent of witchcraft. A rogue chief from the UPND stronghold even declared that he slept at the graveyard during his coronation. So who are to dispute those claims?

  5. I saw this in a SOUTH African newspaper it was a headline that they are considering to table witchcraft in Parliament. Zambia too much ukachepa. Running away from their own shadows

  6. Awe bane ubuloshi bwena Lekeni tebo. Nangu cibefyo intungulushi shimomo shilabomfya ba Ng’anga nangula Ba Sangoma ukubuka pakwikala, ukupoko bufumu/ubutungulushi nangula ukutwalililo kutungulula. Since this works to their advantage as leaders, there is a possibility such a move can be on their plan. Forget about the preamble of the constitution. That is nothing. No one has seen God. Judge them from the way they have treated UPND. Is that being christian? What does Christianity mean? Can darkness mix with light? Mwilaibepa bashetani?

  7. Jornalism is perhaps the filthiest profession in Zambia. Journalists are readily available to the highest bidder and they are ready to smear any cow dung on anyone. It’s a profession that truly belongs in the gutter.

    • “bewitch” is the accusative form. Unfortunately, witchcraft is real. But so is the Power of God, which is greater than witchcraft.

  8. But whats wrong with finding out how witchcraft operates? Its the job of Universities to research, investigate and either dismiss or confirm such myths. People like Christopher Columbus are known for challenging such myths like the world is flat because they were brave enough to explore the beyond

  9. What media speculations. Your highier minister of education Nkandu Luo said it and media quoted her correctly. Just say that is her personal opinion and not govt position

  10. Let the minister in question to this answer for her self. Nkandu luo. Whether its a government and she is speaking in her own individual perception. We also want to know if she is a member of the witches association, which she is trying to promote.

  11. Thank you Mrs. Spokeswoman! Zambia is a christian nation and witchcraft is of the devil! No promotion of witchcraft as someone does with her books! God bless Zambia!

    • Kampamba Mulenga , Mumbi Phiri, Davies Mwila and Bowman Lusambo, they talk like witches. Especially Davies Mwila LIES like a witch caught naked flying from nowhere to nowhere. Lusambo the salary sacrifice master is like a witch that eats people live hence he can punch someone anytime without caring what might happen to them.

  12. Let them publish a “WHO IS WHO AMONG THE ZAMBIAN WITCHES!” That will be a job well done, a research worth its name.
