Two Chinese arrested for pollution at Silverest Garden Housing in Chongwe

ZEMA has charged Silverest Garden Housing in Chongwe and two of its employees, Hu Xinqiuo and Tan Futian for contravening the Environmental Management Act No. 12 of 2011 (EMA) and its subsidiary legislation.

The Company and the two employees have been charged for unlawful discharge of a pollutant into the environment and failure to comply with an environmental order issued by ZEMA relating to discharge of effluent.

The two employees who had been detained at Chelston Police in Lusaka will appear in Court soon.

ZEMA Spokesperson Ireen Chipilu said the agency remains committed to ensuring that all approved projects operate within the provisions of the environmental law and any other relevant laws.

  1. Good , now arrest the Chinese buyers of mukula , they are encouraging deforestation……chinese don’t care about their environment , Zambians have to on guard…

  2. The Chinese waste nothing even faeces are useful. Just look at the way they live 20 people in a two bedroom house mixed male and female.

    Having said that ,Zambians should also be charged especially in places where we saw photos of vast pollution that brought cholera.

    • Am also wondering why zema can’t take water and sewerage companies to court for blocked sewer pipes in various townships, these pics look like a daily scenery in some komboniz.

  4. They should be slapped with a jail sentence so that would-be offenders learn a lesson. After dumping fake products in our country now they are also dumping effluent. What do they take us for?
