United Party for National Development Macha Ward Councillor who is also the Choma Deputy Mayor has been sentenced to nine (9) months imprisonment with hard labour or a fine of K10, 000 after being found guilty of assaulting his wife.

Choolwe Mubambasu stood accused in the Choma Magistrates Court for assaulting Prisca Kakaanda, a business lady from Choma, a charge he denied throughout trial.

The Court established that the evidence by the complainant correlated with the second prosecution witness Mazwanga, as it found no reason why he could testify against his cousin.

The court has ruled that the evidence given by the second and fourth defense witnesses were not consistent therefore rendering it as an assembly of lies.

Principle Resident Magistrate Exnobert Zulu considered the fact that he is a first offender, but argued that as a Civic leader, Mubambasu has an obligation to champion an end to such vices.

  1. UPND is a violent group. They killed an innocent man recently in Siavonga because the man was a member of PF. Their sacrifice will NEVER equal ONE Sacrifice!

    • Why not both K10, 000 and a jail term? That would serve as a powerful deterrent against such crimes.

Domestic violence shouldn’t be taken so lightly, people die!

  2. The magistrate is poor. Gender violence is a scourge that Should be curbed by the courts. Why this ruling of options? Just send him to jail period. With this ruling, Rich men will continue beating up their wives like GBM did because they can afford to pay. What you must know is that you can’t unbeaten someone once you have beaten her

  4. Its political the mayor is very innocent he wanted to leave the woman since she is a business woman who feel she has it all and has put respect aside for her husband. She wants to distroy his image by accusing of being violent towards her.

  5. It is clearly showing that upnd is not a gud party there is a lot of reds attire which is a symbol of something else and GBM can influence everyone there including hh becoz they do not believe in God.how do u assault someone who is taking care of u daily during the night and day.its very sad ladies play a bigger role to our livelihood
