Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroek has wished Zesco United the best in Friday’s 2018 CAF Champions League Group D clash in Angola.
Vandenbroek excused his Zesco call-ups from his first weekly three-day together with the domestic league players in Lusaka that ended today, Wednesday July 25, so that they could to attend to their critical Group D clash against Primeoro de Agosto on Friday in Luanda.
“I left out the Zesco players because they have an important a game on Friday in the Champions League,” Vandenbroek said.
“I don’t want to disturb their preparations for that game; it is an important game for them. It will be good that if they can bring back a win so that they can make it through the group stage.”
Zesco are currently bottom of Group D with 2 points from their opening three games and are tied on points with third placed Agosto.
Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia lead on 7 points, eSwatini giants Mbabane Swallows are second on 4 points with three games left before the top two quarterfinal places are decided in Group D.
Meanwhile, Zesco left for Luanda on Wednesday afternoon from Lusaka ahead of Friday’s 18h00 kickoff at Estadio 11 de Novembro.
