The United Kingdom’s Minister for Africa, Harriett Baldwin, is visiting Zambia today to see how the UK can strengthen its partnership with Zambia by supporting growth and poverty reduction and working towards shared prosperity.

Minister Baldwin will hold meetings with Her Honour the Vice-President, Inonge Wina and the Minsters of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Energy.

During her visit, Minister Baldwin will sign the Energy Africa Compact and announce 406 million Kwacha of new UK development assistance. This funding will support the growth of the sustainable energy sector, giving a boost to local businesses and providing millions of Zambians with reliable, affordable energy.

The Energy Africa Compact is a partnership agreement between the UK and Zambia for the Government, the international community and the private sector to expand the household solar market and deliver increased and sustainable energy access for millions of Zambians.

Speaking ahead of her visit, Minister Baldwin said:

“I am looking forward to my first visit to Zambia, where the UK enjoys so many strong bilateral relationships, whether with Government, communities or businesses.

“It will be a great opportunity to highlight the ways in which we can work together for a healthier, safer and more prosperous future for both our countries.”

  1. And the high commissioner does what now? Misplaced priorities, coming to steal not for poverty reduction because she wont even care to visit the poverty stricken areas of Zambia

    Thank you

    • Strengthen ties in 2018 when you came to colonize us centuries ago and looted Africa and enslaved us…just stay in your Brexit….and what kind of Ministry….Minister of Africa i think we should have Minister of Europe as well and Minister of America and Minister of China and Minister of India and Minister of Brazil in Zambia

  2. The English are racists, most of them left at Independence because they didn’t want to be ruled by a black man. The collapse of the copper price that resulted in the collapse of the Zambian economy was engineered by the British just to punish us. Even now it’s almost impossible to get a British visa, but francophone citizens get into France any time, even those that weren’t even colonies. Britain has now realized that it’s fast losing former colonies to China, it’s too late! China has already taken the space they abandoned

  3. What can she steal from your Cholera Dununa failed republic naimwe??

Now go & wash your face, brush your teeth, & go to bed, & sleep as it’s now IMPOSSIBLE to wash the Cadre virus from your stricken brain.

  4. Trying to be relevant. They thought they were such a powerful country such that exiting from the EU was going to make it crumble. The EU is determined to move on without them.

We should be very careful with Britain. It is a very divisive country.
