The Baroste Royal Establishment (BRE) says it will not be rushed in pursuing the Barotseland Agreement of 1964 with Government by anyone.

The BRE has indicated that those who want to rush the process using cruel means other than dialogue which is currently taking place are doing so at their own peril.

The BRE made the remarks through the Ngambela, Nyambe Mwenda at Lialui Royal village in Mongu lasst week.

Mr. Mwenda said the BRE has made its stance clearly over the matter and would not accept to be pushed beyond its limits by the so-called Barotseland Activists.

He said whilst attending the Kulamba Traditional Ceremony in Eastern Province in August this year, the BRE reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue with Government until the Barotseland issue was resolved amicably

Meanwhile, the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has warned indunas to stop issuing land to foreigners without the consent of the Litunga who is custodian of land in Western Province.

The BRE sounded its warning through the Ngambela, Nyambe Mwenda in Lialui last week.

Mr. Mwenda disclosed that some indunas were giving land to foreigners at the expense of the locals.

He said a named foreigner who received land has even built a mosque which was against the wishes of the Litunga and the BRE.

Mr. Mwenda stated that building of mosques has been banned in Western Province.

  1. Someone has secretly and at night promising our people that if and when elected he’ll grant independence to Barotseland. In his desperate quest he’s failed to see the complications associated with this move. Ask the Britons on Brexit.

  2. Let these people go and make their own country. I don’t blame them for not wanting g to be a part of this thieving government

    • You are not even African, we forgive your ignorance. Jesus was one of us in color too you know. Blessed is the land of Africa. Please stop spewing nonsense.

    • Why should it worry you wherever one is Muslim or Christian? Both are alien faiths and we’re what we are because the Christians came here first otherwise we would also have been Muslim.

  3. Wise words SIR! We don’t want foreigners owning land in Barotseland because the locals will get priced out! Look at what’s happened in Lusaka? Secondly No mosques! I am sure that land has already been reposed or is in the process we don’t take nonsense in Barotseland!

    • I’m concerned whether you build temples , synagogues, mosques, pagodas or churches in your area. My point is that whether you like it or not all these faiths are foreign. It’s your choice just like we could be speaking French or Portuguese , but here we’re speaking English another foreign language . You definitely don’t have any identity.

What dialogue is this Ngambela talking about? This Litunga and the Ngambela have been bribed by corrupt Lungu and his minions to frustrate the BA’64 and the aspirations of the people. Corruption and bribery is very despised in Barotseland because that’s not the culture and tradition of the people.

As for foreign land sales, yep agreed 100%.

Hut who banned the building of Mosques in Barotseland, the people or the Ngambela? This statement is very troubling as it borders on discrimination. There may be some Lozis who could have converted to Islam, are you going to ban them from living in Barotseland. I have a problem with this archaic declaration.

  5. @Corruption Scandals:
One of the Lozis who have converted to Islam is Al Haj Sketchley Sachika. I suppose him and his mosque are not welcome in Barotseland.

Bo ‘Njoko aishuta Mutae’… you mean Sketchley Sachika the famed lawyer? There you have it, that’s why I was saying you may end up discriminating against your own people. As a matter of fact, discrimination of any kind against any human being on the basis of race, creed, gender or religion is bad and must be condemned by any progressive, right thinking person. You can’t discriminate an entire religion based on a few fundamentalists who use the religion to do harm against people (including their own people). I have gone to uni and I have some friends who are Muslims and they are nice, peace loving people with strong family values. How do you feel when you are discriminated against based on your race, just because of the stereotype attached to people of colour? It’s similar (although not…

… It’s similar (although not exactly the same thing).
By the way it’s mutai with an ‘i’, rather than ‘mutae’ with and ‘e’ 🙂

  6. 100% WITH YOU; NO SALE OF LAND TO FOREIGNERS AND THIS SHOULD BE COPIED BY THE WHOLE ZAMBIA, NO NEW MOSQUES IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY AND WHEREVER THEY EXIST, WE SHOULD SLOWLY REPOSSES AND PROPOSE ALTERNATIVE LAND USE. Moslems don’t allow other religions to flourish, Islam, a violent, oppressive religion that views women and blacks as objects of servitude should be confine and NOT allowed to spread in our lovely, peaceful country, Zambia!!
