President Edgar Lungu says the Late President Michael Sata taught him how to show love to others regardless of one’s tribe and region.
Speaking during the 4th memorial service for the late President Sata at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Lusaka today, President Lungu said one thing that the people can learn from the late Mr. Sata is the way he taught his party members to embrace everyone in the country.
The Head of State said Mr. Sata was known as a man of the people and built his party on an all-inclusive policy in order to achieve one common goal.
President Lungu stated that Mr. Sata was positive in everything that he aspired to do and always reminded the party to be selfless.
He further said the late President always encouraged those in the Patriotic Front (PF) Party to work together and ensure that all parts of the country are developed.
The President added that it is also important to believe in the oneness of love by believing in Christ, the foundation on which Mr. Sata built the party.
And Archbishop of Lusaka Alick Banda said death leads people to fullness of life especially if one died in the Lord.
He said Mr. Sata was a man of action and of the people as well as a staunch Catholic till the time of his death.
The Archbishop said there is need for government to emulate his way of governance as he led an all-inclusive government with a pro-poor policy.
He said the late Mr. Sata fought for Justice for all and also ensured that corruption was dealt with on the foundation of the 10 commandants.
Late President Michael Sata died whilst serving as Republican President on October 28, 2014.
Meanwhile, President Edgar Lungu has been challenged to demonstrative he truly believes in late President Michael Sata’s vision for Zambia by putting to an end thefts of public resources.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) consultant Chishimba Kambwili has also urged President Lungu to show that his government truly cares about the poor.
Chishimba KabwiliMr. Kambwili who is also Roan Member of Parliament wants President Lungu and his government to realize that leadership is about uplifting the lives of the people.
In an interview with QTV News Mr. Kambwili says this means that President Lungu needs to make the necessary radical changes as he reflects on the leadership late President Sata exemplified.
Mr. Kambwili has recalled that the late Republican President demonstrated that he was more interested in ensuring that every Zambian can afford three meals a day, than he was interest in enriching himself.
And Mr. Kambwili has justified why he did not attended this year’s memorial for late President Sata that was held in Lusaka.
He says besides having not been formally invited to attend the memorial, he also feared a repeat of the harassment he went through last year when ruling PF cadres became violent.
Mr. Kambwili states that the NDC will however have its own wreaths laying event on the grave of the late Republican President on Monday.
