    • Dear President Lungu,
The increased incidents of rioting in the country is a sign that tensions are running high in our people’s minds and hearts. I know that most of the people surrounding you will tell you all is well because they are greedy vultures whose concern is only themselves. The day you fall from power, they will flee from you like swine from under a falling tree.
I implore you to put the needs of our people ahead of your own interests. You are creating your legacy with every decision you make or fail to make. Your legacy is how you will be remembered. Again I know a lot of unskilled, uneducated, unworthy people that support you for survival, simply because they have some petty irrelevant job in foreign service. And they defend everything you do to protect their stay in the…

    • The fact that mealie meal is smuggled into the Congo, should tell you that Congo is a potential market for this commodity. Had the government put in place plans to boost the production of mealie meal some few years ago, today they would be exporting it to Congo and thus earning the much needed revenue to boost the economy. But then we have clueless Lungu, who would rather teargas people who are trying to do business than helping them legalize their business, which would benefit our country.

    • This story is poorly researched. The reporter should provide details properly not monga it was written by a Chifubu secondary school pupil

  1. if the government can empower youths to grow more maize so that the surplus can be sold to our friends in DRC, in turn we earn more dollars.

    • That’s how slavery stated, “only if we grow more sugar”.
There are so many farmers in Zambia who can’t get even a field ploughed.
Youths from Kawama to grow maize??? Kanshi you should have thought of youths empowering the with growing marijuana which is easy.

    • @Nostradamus
On point, we in the green have been talking about this empowerment thing for a long time, people don’t listen

    • Which youths naimwe? ??? Aba ama youths abanwafye fi junta kuti bayamona amaka yakulima??? Talk about attainable things not iyi hallucination.

  2. They’ll get out soon, and the mealie meal will reach its destination and the story will become silent and things back to normal, typical Zambian dumbness!!!!!!!

  3. DRC is just a big good market for Zambian goods and services. This myopic approach of stifling opportunities is not good, you cant export mealie meal to Congo, you cant sell our God given mukula. So what do you want pela? Every good opportunity is turned into a threat, I can assure you that even with uncontrolled mealie meal exports to Congo, Zambia would still remain food secure, I have my statistics. Why are you stifling business, profitable business.

  4. As already stated above by my colleague, the riots happening in your stronghold should be a source of worry to your style of Governance ba Edgar. Wake up from the slumber or else it will be too late.Bu ka mwendo munjila is not helping our country at all!

  5. Ba Edgar,
I hope you read this. Why are you stopping our people from exporting meal meal please. Do you have brains honestly.
A business opportunity is calling you, and you with Katanga you are stopping our voters from making money. God forbid. When are you going to work up and see things as common please.

  6. Life is better with a twist even if it is twisted. There shall never be a life where everything goes according to the wishes of one person. What do you think the job for those in the riot squad is if such were not foreseen? It is silly for the same mouth to complain of shortages and high prices and in the AM complain of harassment from those trying to curb smuggling. It is easy to catch fire with someone’s hand just as it is to blame the ruling party when you are not the ones running the affairs of the country.

  7. Nothing more than a signal for Zambians to grow more maize….Meantime Charity do your job, don’t listen to trib.als.

  8. What was the whole fuss all about, I dont just get it. Smuggling of goods and services out of the country is illegal çause the smugglers will not pay a damn dine (tax). Charity keep up the good work lady and your day of appreciation will surely come and not too long from now.

  9. Why is everyone confirming that these trucks where going to export to DRC ,how about if they were going to sale in kitwe. What makes you think they were going to DRC?

  10. I really don’t get it. What were these people rioting about? The story is not clear. The police just went to do their job which they did and Kawama residents riot why? Smuggling has been a problem since early eighties, its not new. The problem we have in Zambia is laziness. Most of these lazy people thinks HH will be giving money for free every day when he becomes president because he is rich. Zambia is a rich country but full of people who complains day and night without doing anything. Work hard ba pompwe imwe! What empowerment are you talking about? You will be disappointed in 2021 cause HH will introduce austerity measures to correct the economy. No spoon feeding fi pompwe.

  11. IT IS NOT JUST LACK OF EMPLOYMENT BUT MOST OF THESE YOUTHS ARE UN-EMPLOYABLE. YOU HAVE NO QUALIFICATIONS AND YOU WANT TO BE EMPLOYED. WHATS THAT? AND THE GROWING OF MAIZE FROM WHICH THAT MEALIE MEAL COMES IS HIGHLY SUBSIDIZED SO THAT ZAMBIANS CAN BENEFIT. HOW CAN YOU GIVE SUCH A COMMODITY TO ANOTHER COUNTRY?

  12. WHAT IS MEALIE MEAL? I CAN’T FIND THIS WORD IN THE DICTIONARY, IS IT SOME FOOD FOR PIGS OR WHAT, COS I HAVE NEVER EATEN THAT MEALIE MEAL AS A HUMAN BEING, I EAT RICE , KAKA RONI, ETC

  13. The only problem that we have in Zambia is that whatever happens is considered to be political why? The truth of the matter is that let us find out the root cause of these problems and then we’ll be able to come up with tangible solutions rather than talking rubbish. When are we going to work up? If your mouth can’t come up with tangible solution, it’s better to keep quiet!!!
