Zambia Police

An 18 year wife of Chipembele Village in Chibombo District in Central Province has been brutally murdered allegedly by her husband in a domestic dispute.

The body of the deceased was found lying in the pool of blood in the sitting room while the husband was discovered in the bedroom with some head injuries.

The incident which happened yesterday morning has shocked many residents of Chipembele Village, barely two weeks after a six year old girl was allegedly defiled and killed by unknown people in the same area.

Police have since picked up the body of the woman while the husband is currently admitted to Liteta Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

Investigations on the case are being carried while no arrests have been made.

And Hephzibah Tembo, the wife to the village headman has since identified the deceased as Sharon Sinkala, 18, and the husband as Christopher Mushili aged 20 years.

Ms Tembo said the deceased and her husband were discovered by some neighbors after they heard the couple’s two month old baby crying for a long time from the house.

Chibombo District Council Secretary Reuben Simfukwe who also rushed to the scene has warned community members against spreading false information on the deceased housewife.

Contrary to rumors spreading around the community that Sinkala body parts had gone missing, Mr Simfukwe said according preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that all the body parts of the deceased woman are intact.

Mr. Simfukwe has therefore urged community members to allow the police to carry out thorough investigations to establish what has happened to the couple.

And in a related development, a 24 year old man of Kokama Ward has been allegedly beaten up to death by his friends. Both Chibombo District Council Secretary Reuben Simfukwe and Kakoma Ward Councilor Winston Yumba have confirmed the beating to death to ZANIS in separate interviews.

Mr Yumba has since identified the victim has Josias Tumbana adding that the body of the deceased is currently at Liteta Hospital mortuary. He said the victim was drinking beer with his friends at a named tavern who later allegedly beat him up to death after an argument.

And the CS has confirmed that the Police have since arrested one suspect in connection with the killing.

  1. The domestic dispute which occured that led to the death of the 18 year old teenage wife and the brutal attack on the 6 year old child in Chibombo along with the beating to death of the man at the Liteta tavern if we examine the background I am sure we will find that the perpetrators all consumed alcohol and were intoxicated. When we say alcohol consumption is the root cause of so many evils this is what we mean even road accidents too as a result of drunken drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are a danger to other road users. We must stop the excessive consumption of alcohol in the rural areas and shanty townships of Zambia or else future generations will suffer.

    • 18 & 20 years, These are children getting into difficult trade of marriage.
We hope they were just attacked by criminals.

  2. I really feel nauseous with such stories…18 and 20….these are young fellas who need to have concentrated on making their lives better …marriage mwebantu is a sham….it’s no success….there’s nothing worthwhile in marriage…….

    • Unless you are not the result of it, and you had a bad experience of it. However, that doesn’t make a proper marriage a “sham”, as you call it.

  3. This village is the future of Zambia. Its so cosmopolitan. The head man is Tembo I assume from his wife’s name. The subjects are Sinkala, and Mushili. One Zambia
