The University Teaching hospital (UTH) has successfully conducted a surgical operation on the 3-year-old boy who had needles embedded in his body.

Ministry of Health Permanent secretary for Administration Kennedy Malama has confirmed the development to ZNBC news, saying the team of experts conducting the procedure is satisfied with the first attempt at removing the remaining needles.

Dr. Malama who could not disclose the number of needles withdrawn from the boy’s body, added that Richard Zulu is recovering well in the Intensive Care Unit.

He said further details will be availed to the media this week on the progress of the boy.

Richard Zulu was evacuated to the University Teaching hospital recently after a directive by President Edgar Lungu when it was discovered that the boy had needles embedded into his body.

  1. Well done surgeons, this Boy deserves to live as it is every one’s right to Live but abaloshi kwena bacilamo bena awe! Pena apa nabekata panshi!!!!!

    • What an innocent boy, no privacy at all!?
If they wanted to make this case so public, they should have operated on him at stadium.

    • Lungus advisores should learn that implying that the boy survived because of a directive from him is wrong.

What of the other children who are seriously ill who need that directive from lungu ??

A more civil way was to say doctors in chipata recommended his evacuation to UTH. Not to imply his life depended on the presidential directive.

When will Africans stop hero worshiping individuals and instead worship whole institutions ??

  2. “..Richard Zulu was evacuated to the University Teaching hospital recently after a directive by President Edgar Lungu when it was discovered that the boy had needles embedded into his body…”

What a pity to poor Zambians that the alpha and omega of pf , lungu has the last say weather they live or die.

If you have a seriously sick relative, just pray lungu saves them by issuing a directive for proper medical care or dead..

    • We hope Richard a speedy recovery, but iam also concerned for the plight of other seriously ill children who can be saved by operations at UTH but no directive has been issued. Essentially they are condemned to die.

In essence the life of a patient should not depend on a directive for treatment from lungu…..doctors should be at liberty to direct further treatment. This is god worshiping of lungu.

    • Just now you will see njimbu dancing and sontaring what a great president lungu is for saving the boys life when it should be the institution of Zambian health care and zambian tax payers that should take credit…..

  3. Whoever or whichever institution that’s responsible for all these needles in this boy’s body needs to be held accountable and severely punished. This is unconscionable .

  4. The police should get to the bottom of this matter. The culprit who inserted those deadly objects in thebody of the boy should be made to account for their actions. Its either people who are related to this boy or those who are close like neighbors.
Police can you up your game please!!!!

  5. More than 30 needles inserted into the little boy’s body! It is actually a miracle the boy survived up to the time of his death.

  6. The privacy and security of patient health information is a top priority for patients and their families, health care providers and professionals, and the government. Laws require many of the key persons and organizations that handle health information to have policies and security safeguards in place to protect your health information — whether it is stored on paper or electronically. I don’t think this institution had rights or permission to post the needles in that boy’s body on electronic media in the name of PF campaign. Are there any lawyers in Zambia to protect the poor? Unless it was a politician they would have been lining up like ants.

    • This situation is newsworthy locally and abroad, just like the separation of twins, and the significant public interest in it justifies such publication. Next!

  7. Well said Diggers and people of Zambia need to know their rights and need to be educated. Don’t let this PF government take advantage of the poor people.

  8. LT – can you investigate and inform rather than passively report this boy’s condition. Surely, this story leaves readers wondering what happened in the first place.

    • My question since this story started. How did the needles get into the child’s body. Huge Part of this story is missing

  9. Good to hear of young Richard Zulu’s condition, may God continue to touch him and wish quickest recovery Sonny.

  10. Please reporters can you report on how and who subjected that child to this horendous torture. reporting in Zambia is pathetic because there is incomplete stories .

  11. These are issues of witchcraft. How the boy survived with all those needles imbedded in the body, only God knows. Children should be dedicated to God and only Him should take control of our children. There is satanism out there and it is real. But God’s power is above satanism. Every person’s life is programmed by God. If your time has not come for you to go, no demons in hell will force you to go. The devil is a liar.

  12. Can s/one give us details of how the needles got into the boys body. This is a very strange and serious matter. Just a single thorn in the foot can cause you discomfort. Can’t play, sleep…well. So we are talking about 30 needles. It’s not a joke. I was surprised to see the boy running around at the hospital on TV. Can s/one tell us how the needles got into the boys body. African Magic or what?

  13. Let both TB Joshua and Bushiri combine their prophecy and tell how the needles entered into the boy’s body.

  14. The only sad part of this story is a sign and symptoms of systems failure. it should not have taken a directive to do the right thing. Wishing the future leader in Mr Zulu (now baby boy) a quick recovery.

  15. I hope that after all this there is no stup!d decision to hand this boy back to his mother because in Zambia anything is possible.
