Wedson Nyirenda on Tuesday night collected a significant result in his shaky start as Baroka coach away at Orlando Pirates.
Baroka drew 1-1 in Johannesburg to ease the Polokwane sides’ relegation battle that saw them move one place up from 14th to 13th on the log on 16 points from 18 matches played to stay unbeaten in their last two matches in which they have picked 2 points.
Baroka led from the 13th minute through Matome Mabeba but Vincent Pule denied them a famous victory when he clinched the equalizer in the 83rd minute.
Nyirenda’s Chipolopolo protégés; striker Justin Shonga and midfielder Augustine Mulenga, who provided the assist, played the full 90 minutes for second placed Pirates.
The result was Baroka’s third draw against a South Africa PSL big gun under Nyirenda since his appointment in June when he left the Zambia job.
Nyirenda has so far held Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 at home and Mamelodi Sundowns 0-0 away.
Tuesday’s draw also saw Baroka improve from the first leg meeting against Pirates who beat them 2-1 at home on September 22.
