Today’s Message: Faith and Honor

Share

Today’s Scripture

“Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.’ He could not do any miracles there…He was amazed at their lack of faith.””

(Mark 6:4–6, NIV)

Faith and Honor

Did you know that honor and faith work together? When Jesus walked the earth, the people in His own hometown couldn’t believe that He was the Son of God because they were too familiar with Him. They didn’t honor Him, which affected their ability to have faith in Him. When you honor the Lord, when you respect and make room for Him in your life by following the Word of God, it impacts your faith in Him. Part of honoring the Lord is honoring the people He’s placed in your life.

God works through people, and the Bible says that the way you treat others is the way you treat Him. Choose to honor people and make room for the Lord to work in your life today. Look for the greatness in the people around you: your spouse, your children, your friends and family. Treat others with respect, knowing that God is building His character in you. As you choose honor, you open the door for faith to grow. You’ll see God’s hand working in your life, and you will see His hand of blessing on everything you do!

A Prayer for Today

“Heavenly Father, today I choose to honor You by honoring the people You have placed in my life. Show me how to love others the way You love me so that faith will grow stronger in my heart. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

  1. Alleluia and Amen. “To Love Your Neighbour As you Love Yourself” is one of the two greatest commandments. However, it is not an innate quality. We do not automatically gravitate towards our neighbours as we do with say, our parents, siblings etc. This commandment wants you to love and treat each and every person that you encounter, regardless of race, colour, creed or standing in society. This means showing mercy and compassion to street kids, house maids, gardeners, shop assistants etc. What seems impossible to man is possible to God. Let us all try to start today and take one day at time, walking in faith and trying to do even one good thing a day. Be the one who makes someone smile, be the one that lends a hand, be the heart that loves, the voice that comforts, the hand that consoles…
