Women and youths in Kafue district have passed a vote of no confidence in their Member of Parliament Miriam Chonya saying she has failed to deliver her campaign promises.

Hundreds of women today matched to district commissioner’s office with a petition demanding that she resigns within 48 hours as she has allegedly failed to foster development in the district.

Patricia Banda, who read the statement on behalf of the group, cited the withdrawal of her participation from the on-going National Dialogue Forum without consulting them as electorates.

In receiving the petition, Kafue District Commissioner Joseph Kamana promised to deliver the petition to higher authorities for action.

Speaking at the same occasion Kafue Town Council Chairman Brigadier General Moono Simakoloyi assured the people of Kafue that his office and that of District Commissioner will continue to work closely in order to foster development in the district.

And in a related development, Kafue for Development President, Mwenya Chama called for an immediate resignation for the Kafue parliamentarian.

Mr. Mwenya said that it was shocking that’s Ms. Chonya had withdrawn from the National Dialogue Forum when she was supposed to represent Kafue residents at the on-going deliberations.

Mr. Chama said during a media briefing in Lusaka today that the action taken by the Kafue Member of Parliament is not only retrogressive but deters the development of Kafue district.

He added that her presence at the National Dialogue Forum was to represent the voiceless and report back to the people of Kafue on the discussions.

Efforts to get a comment from Kafue Member of Parliament proved futile as her phone went off by press time

    • When you hear people marching in protest just know that they are PF played by their equally cowards of leaders…not even workers who have been unpaid for 10 months are allowed by police.

    • Interestingly to note, PF will nothing to talk about in the next 6 months simply because the economy is failing.
In 6 months, the kwacha will 21 to a dollar or more.

But the kwacha can stabilise by doing a few things..

    • Ms chonya don’t withdrew those people who are trying to bring you down they don’t know what they want in life just go forward upnd support your mp

  1. ….but you know trib.als don’t you? Unfortunately the trib.al disease has now afflicted female MPs from the trib.al upnd…I don’t know how that Princess Kasune is doing, has she also boycotted so that I tell her off?

  2. What NDF ?

A bogus herding of Yes men by PF

…….mean while anyone who questions lungus and PF corruption and mismangment is attacked like CK st power FM radio station in kabwe.

  3. Comment: Everything is about mobilizing hungry cadres in order to discredit others with divergent views, Pazed Bwafya. Those women have no say on what’s going to happen in that forum deliberations so who gave them authority to disparage the one conferred with power to attend? It’s in her wisdom to either go or not go, the electorates are just spectators in any case. They should solely rely on her discretion.

  4. if she doesnt want, leave her!!!

moreovr those protesting are just pf cadres who didnt vote for the latter.
what role will she perform at the pf organised indaba?

    kanshi bamene imwe, kaziyendani

  5. now yhu tell Jose Kamana as if he even voted. while others discredit your boss too and isnt resigning yhu expect them to resign when yhu discredit?
    politics ni 50/50

  6. For once citizens are fed up with these politicians. I don’t care if you are PF or UPND, represent your people.

  7. ….in relation to PF, only in relation to PF, trib.als are NO option for the emancipation of mother Zambia. Imagine, just imagine, Trib al Hacks wanted to give us GBV!!!

  8. Many UPND MPs could have kissed goodbye to their seats in 2021 if their constituencies were in 6.5 provinces because they only represent the interests of one greedy tribal creature called HH instead of people who voted for them!!!These UPND MPs are simply stealing taxpayers money because they get paid basically for doing nothing.Bravo to the 16 civilised UPND MPs led by Prof.Lungwangwa who ignored evil HH and are representing the interests of their voters.UPND should not complain about whatever shall come out of the national dialogue process because they had a big chance to debate with others issues which they are not happy with in the constitution but as usual, they lost the opportunity!!Well done Kafue residents because it is now too much from these useless UPND leaders!!!

  9. Wether mp is wrong or right but same people who matched cannot even explain the reasons for the ongoing dialogue let alone the word itself.

    • If you sat with the same pf protestors and asked them what the NDF is all about they don’t even have a clue, i don’t understand the connection between campaign promises and her attending the NDF translates into failure to keep her promise.

  10. Good news! MPs answer to their constituents. Put them on the spot and get rid of partisan operatives whose allegiance is to party. Who do they think they are conning? They become MPs to represent their party and forget the people who put them there?

  11. ….and now he is considering Chimbwili. How low can Trib.al Hacks sink in a futile attempt for plot 1? Meantime his cadres like Jack are so desperate for the position of running mate that their faces can’t hide their pain. Just one look at Jack’s face and you can’t miss the bitterness of waiting in futility while his boss continually overlooks him in favour of any bemba bag of flesh! Meanwhile the real bemba principles men and women have rejected their bags of flesh into the garbage bin for Trib.al Hacks to pick out the best of the rot.

  12. Kafue is under developed bcos of an mp like her who can’t even explain herself the reason why she has withdrawn from the National Dialogue Indaba. As Kafue resident, am very much disappointed with the so called mp, its time a person like her who is politically inclined should be made answerable failure to which she should be withdrawn and paveway to another person. I’m appealing to the delegates to put up submission about under performing mps like her to be withdrawn by the electorates who voted for them unlike people championing thr useless party manifestoes.

  13. Online upendi comedians are just misleading hh

This hh will is seatin on time bomb to think all his followers are under his spell.

U can not control adults like animals at your ranch. One day this upendiz will revolt and speak out like gbm. Today One would think upendi has no independent thinkers but its a matter of time

    • Upnd has the most educated men and women than any party in Zambia. They think before taking any action

  14. In general, most mps don’t go back to the electorates when they get to parliament. When parliament is in ressess. They remain in Lusaka doing their own businesses. Now there is some difference with the upnd who usually walk out of some very important events. The NDF was know to them for some time, they could also found time to explain to the electorates why they would not attend. It is interesting to note that there are several select parliamentally committees which are headed by opposition mps on governance issues but they have found ndf problematic. The sad thing is, very soon soon arround 2020 or 2021 they will be coming back to ask voters to renew their mandates. Now here is a problem, sadly most of these mps are riding on the popularity of the party president or the party…

  15. They are not politicians since they do not represent the electorates, they represent their own interest it is time to open your eyes, Zambians please be watchful,be vigilant. How honestly can she do such a thing withdrawing, let her leave her office and the rest of the MPs who have withdrawn from NDF.

  16. Most of these leaders in Africa do not represent the followers. They stop answering calls, concerns are never taken serious as they only consider the appointing authorities. They are bootlickers. Look at how nominations are done at what ever level. So appointments should be on positive minded culture.

  17. An MP should not promise development because that’s government duty. An individual MP on their own can do nothing without government input. Although I don’t like Upnd, I feel the accusations that Mrs Chonya has failed to deliver on her promises is not only unfair but completely misguided. The demo should be on her failure to attend the NDF.
