Green Eagles fly closer to top two finish

Green Eagles on Saturday moved into touching distance of securing their 2019 FAZ Super Division championship playoff spot from Pool B following a 1-0 away win over promoted Circuit City 1-0 at Edwin Emboela Stadium in Lusaka.

The victory also saw Eagles maintain their three-point lead with two games left to play in Pool B.
Midfielder Spencer Sautu scored the all-important goal in the 66th minute to send Eagles to 32 points from sixteen games played.

Buildcon are a close second on 29 points following a 1-0 Ndola derby win over Forest Rangers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium courtesy of a booming free -kick from Isaac Shamujompa in stoppage time of the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, victory for Eagles their penultimate match next weekend at home in Choma against mid-table Lumwana Radiants could just see them clinch their championship playoff place with a match to spare.

Pool B winners will also qualify for next seasons CAF Champions League and this June’s ABSA Cup semifinals.
