Zesco United open one point lead in five goal fest

Defending FAZ Super Division champions Zesco United roared back to beat Red Arrows 3-2 on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to stay on course to reach the 2019 championship playoffs.

Zesco opened a marginal point lead in Pool A on 30 points from sixteen matches played with two left to play while Arrows dropped from second to fifth on 29 points after suffering their first league defeat in ten matches.

But Zesco had to rally to secure the vital home win after veteran striker James Chamanaga put Arrows ahead in the 4th minute.

Then, Lazarus Kambole hit back with a superb brace in the 29th and 34th minutes.

Bruce Musakanya restored parity in the 41st minute but Zesco midfielder Enock Sabumukama sealed the three points on the stroke of halftime.

In second place on 29 points are Zanaco who beat struggling Green Buffaloes 2-1 in their Lusaka derby at Sunset Stadium.

Goals from Guily Manziba and Souleymanou Moussa in the 11th and 14th minutes respectively to handed Zanaco the three points.

Buffaloes consolation came in the 48th minute through Diamond Chikwekwe.

Meanwhile,Kabwe Warriors could take command of Pool A on Sunday if they beat relegation battling Mufulira Wanderers at home in Kabwe on Sunday.
