In a desperate attempt to continue keeping Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo behind bars, the Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday objected to his bail claiming that they need to verify his sureties.
PF Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa and his Chama South counterpart Davison Mung’andu were brought before Court as the Mr Lusambo’s sureties.
But officers from the ACC communicated with Mr. Lusambo’s lawyers that they do not know the suerites and rejected the Letters of Introduction saying they needed to accurately verify with the National Assembly.
And Mr. Sampa confirmed that he spent the entire day on Thursday trekking from the Courts in Kabwata to Parliament at Manda Hill to obtain introduction letters.
“Spent the entire day trekking to ACC offices in town Kulima tower (to be seen in person). Then inbetween had to locate Lusaka Water and ZESCO pay points so as to obtain a receipt in my name to act as proof of residency in Lusaka.”
“This was in order to help Hon Ronald Chitotela and Hon Bowman Lusambo obtain bail out off police cells they have been held last few days. 50% progress was made by end of daylight.”
And PF Acting Secretary General Nickson Chilangwa has described the action of President Hakainde HICHILEMA through the ACC as is sadistic and a travesty of justice.
“It is absurd that the ACC can claim that they don’t know whether or not, Hon Miles Sampa and Hon Davison Mung’andu are Members of Parliament. What kind of buffonery is this? Do these officers at ACC have any personal conscience or they are under remote control or are under a spell?”
Mr Chilangwa said any officer at that high level who does not know that Miles Sampa and Davison Mung’andu are representatives of the people in Parliament must immediately resign.
“They don’t deserve to occupy the offices they are occupying,” Mr. Chilangwa said.
“With such ignorance at ACC, the country is in trouble and no one who appears before the ACC is safe. Hon Miles Sampa and his Chama South counterpart, Hon Davison Mung’andu were brought before Court as Hon. Bowman Lusambo’s sureties. But the ACC told Hon Lusambo’s lawyers that they do NOT know the sureties and rejected the letters saying they needed to verify with the National Assembly whether it is indeed true that Miles Sampa and Davison Mung’andu are MPs. This is clearly wanton and excessive abuse of the law and the court processes.”
He added, “We have said time and again that this crusade is not about corruption, no, it is about revenge, persecution and fixing political scores and we have been vindicated.”
“Mr Hichilema is so obsessed with his bitter desire to fix PF members and kill PF. But we have word for Mr. Hichilema, badala power comes and goes and the very things you are doing to others shall be done to you when you leave that office. Let go of your anger and bitterness; you are in that office to serve the people of Zambia and not to punish your perceived political enemies.”
This is sad. God help us.

Somebody is rearrested by the ACC by having entered a questionable and un reasonable deal in the past with ACC to return not even one millionth of what he obtained dubiously, then somebody is complaining that the deal was already done with ACC, why are they re arresting him. No matter how un reasonable things are, some chaps are still questioning ACC, What is just wrong with us Zambians please
Yes, ACC needs to verify, this is normal procedure, no issue here, lets move on. More arrests please. Bring everybody who needs to face JUSTICE to the courts of law urgently. Bowman is even lucky this is under UPND govt …if the shoe was on the other foot PF would have left him to rot in jail …they would have put that magistrate David Simuusamba on this case. It is the manner in which suspected citizens of the society are handled that is worrisome. Rejoicing over someone’s punishment is not the best way to go. We are all potential law breakers.
The instructions to “punish” is from the president himself… during his press conference he dwelled so much on Bowman… that Bowman was boasting about his wealth .. where did he get his wealth etc…. Bowman had previously told HH that keeping cattle is different from ruling a country.

It is a lesson to the UPND. One day they will be out of power and such incidences are likely to happen even on trumped up charges. Sometimes you could be tempted to say what is happening to the PF guys is unfair but they were the masters of such acts and when an aggrieved person wants to revenge you cant stop them no matter how ethical or morally wrong as long as it is disguised in the law. The pace at which rate at which these guys got rich leaves leaves a lot of questions than answers.

People at ACC can’t just agree to anyone because they know this one is minister or MP, they need to verify as it’s part of procedure. Mr Lusambo was even boasting to the ACC officers, how do you think their bosses felt. So to show he’s no longer boss over them, it will take that long.
For Mr. Chitotela ECL made a mistake of not firing him when the ACC arrested him instead he protected him and accused ACC of witch hunt. So for him he should not even complain. Those guys he entered a deal with for K100,000 too should be arrested. We can’t have laws which are segregative in nature where the rich are let and the poor are caged. Let he who has committed crime be answerable to the law.

1]How can MPs start competing on who rescues those suspected of illegally taking Zambian people’s wealth? This is unheard off in developed countries.
2] What ACC has done to identify surities is accordance with law, and ACC have not done anything outside the law. The only problem is Zambians lived in a lawlessness environment, where ABNORMAL THINGS BECAME NORMAL, and when someone does WHAT IS NORMAL, IT BECOMES ABNORMAL.

So, the people of Matero voted for an MP to be trotting up and down to bail out suspected thieves. Instead of attending to parliamentary duties Miles Sampa, Matero MP has become an errand boy of thieves battling for bail. Matero people should take to task their MP for abrogating his duties of representing Matero people. Sureties can be obtain from a cross of Zambians than disturbing parliamentarians.

Please Mr. Chilangwa grow up. Stop blaming the President the action taken by ACC officers. It’s not by ACC officers to know Mr. Sampa and Mr. Mun’gandu if there are members of parliament by them saying there are member of parliament. They need to produce documents indicating that they are member of parliament. When you want to open a bank account, the bank manager cannot open an account in you name unless you produce the required documents to open an account.
Nothing wrong with arrests and everything BUT its the manner of handling the so called suspects! This government was elected and promised to do things differently, that is following the rule of law which includes within 48hrs of ones arrest, he has to appear in court and humane bail conditions or bond extended to such a one. Rule of law! We all jubilated at such promises especially coming from the dreadful record of the PF! But alas, this government is doing the exact same things!
In the spirit of humanity, we need a sober president who will walk the talk and put an end to the HATE that has characterized our politics. Mistreating your opponents, no matter the allegations will also produce the same treatment to the next government, we need maturity and an end to the HATE!

The UPND needs proper evidence to be arresting people, if the ACC does not have evidence then this is just a waste of time. A competent ACC would put its evidence in order. HH is making childish mistakes. Put your house in order and strike with precision otherwise this starts looking like a witchhunt

Why do PF MPs expect special treatment?
You must show proof of ID, proof of residence and if in regular employment, letter from your employer. Simple standard procedure well known to everyone.
Chilangwa should resign for misleading his party that they will not be subjected to normal routines of ID verification just because they are PF. Empty tin bati.
