Zambia rising of democracy in Africa – Finnish Envoy

Finnish Ambassador to Zambia, Saana Halinen says Zambia is a rising star of democracy in Africa.

Ms Halinen added that it is the more reason Zambia was selected to co-host the forthcoming second summit of democracy set for 29th to 30th March 2023.

She said Zambia should use the summit to learn best practices from other thriving democracies.

Ms Halinen explained that the lessons learned during the summit through the exchange of ideas, will greatly help to further develop the country’s democratic tenets.

Meanwhile Ms Halinen revealed that the embassy is organizing a side event on the 31st of March, which will border on women political empowerment.

She indicated that the Finnish government is actively involved in organizing the second summit for democracy.

Ms Halinen said she is looking forward to the successful co-hosting of the much anticipated second summit for democracy.

She indicated that a delegation from 21 countries is expected to come to Zambia and exchange ideas on how to further grow democracy on the continent.

Zambia will co-host the summit on March 29 and 30, 2023, with the United States of America, Costa Rica, the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea.

The summit will be held under the theme: ‘Free, fair and transparent elections in Africa.”

  1. If arresting political critics, demonstrating students, threatening and insulting opponents is democracy then Zambia is leading in democracy.

It is true that Zambia is a rising star in Democracy in Africa except for people who were beating the police, undermining their Leaders and flushing of money, driving dangerously, beating drivers in such political parties their democracy was an extension di-mocracy and they are very rude were national issues are concerned to them the difference is the same as long as they have lut in their pocket obtained through di-mocracy of fairing Bank Governors.
