Chinese Premier leaves Zambia

Chinese PremierĀ  Li Qiang has concluded his two -day working visit to Zambia and has left the country.

Mr Li was seen off by Vice President Mutale Nalumango at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport this evening.

The media reports that during the sendoff ceremony, a Guard of Honour was mountedĀ  by the Zambia Army Second Battalion of first Zambia Infantry Brigade.

While in the country, President Hichilema and the Chinese Premier discussed matters of mutual interest in various sectors.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation.

Additionally, they explored ways to implement the variousĀ  signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs).

This morning, Premier Li Qiang and President Hichilema witnessed the signing of nine agreements and Memoranda of Understandings in various areas.

These MOUs included the protocol between the general administrations of customs cooperation of China and the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock for heat cocoons to be exported from Zambia to China and an agreement on carrying out the smile journeys cleft lip and palate surgery project in Zambia.

Others were MoU’s in media between the Zambia News and Information Services and China Media Group and another with the Xinhua News Agency.

The two countries also signed an MoU between the University of Zambia and China Media Group, an exchange of notes of China aid mealie meal plants.

Agreement on mutual VISA exemptions for holders of diplomatic service passports and passports for public affairs, and a cooperation plan on jointly promoting the belt and road initiative was also signed.

Other agreements were an MoU on strengthening economic cooperation, industrial and supply chain and an MoU on cooperation in green minerals.
