The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is urging fans to rally behind the Zambia Under-17 Women’s Team in this Saturday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Ndola.
Zambia and Ethiopia are preparing to go head-to-head in the first leg match of the final qualifying round in Ndola.
Coach Carol Kanyemba’s girls eliminated Rwanda and DR Congo to reach the final qualifying round.
Nkweto Tembwe, FAZ Head of Media and Communications, wants fans to be affectionate as they cheer the Copper Princesses.
Tembwe highlighted the importance of this World Cup qualifier.
“We know that our Under-17 girls are standing on the verge of history. The Under-17 have a chance to qualify to the World Cup for a third time,” he told Lusaka Times Sports in Ndola.
“To our fans, let us turn up in numbers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. We need to train our girls to get used to playing in front of huge crowds. The Under-17 are the future of Zambian football. This is a developmental side, so let’s be tolerant as we cheer them on,” Tembwe said.
He further announced the commencement of ticket sales as FAZ introduces electronic tickets.
“One of our innovations at the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), is that we are introducing electronic tickets that are cheaper. Just from the comfort of your home, you can buy tickets using your mobile phone or other electronic devices,” Tembwe said.
“As you may know, CAF does not allow ticket sales at the stadium but those who may have challenges to buy tickets online, we have few selling points in Ndola,” he said.
Zambia set up camp in Ndola two weeks ago to get ready for the match against Ethiopia.
