Serenje District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Kellys Kapanga, says his office is ready to conduct a malpractice – free General Certificate of Education (GCE) examinations.
Mr Kapanga says his office, working together with other government departments, has put all the necessary logistics in place to ensure that the examinations, which begin in the first week of July, are conducted smoothly and without malpractice.
Mr Kapanga said this in an interview with the media at his office.
He said his office remains committed to administering examinations in accordance with the Ministry of Education examination guidelines in order to uphold the integrity and credibility of the examination process.
“We want those who qualify for admission into tertiary institutions to have acquired the necessary competencies to function effectively at that level and, upon graduation, contribute meaningfully to the development of our country,” Mr Kapanga said.
He appealed to parents and members of the community to refrain from aiding examination candidates to cheat during examinations.
More than 270 candidates are expected to sit for the GCE examinations at Mupepetwe, Serenje Boma, Ibilelo and Serenje Boys’ Secondary School examination centres.
