President Hakainde Hichilema has called on the people of Kaoma District in Western Province to vote for the United Party for National Development (UPND) in the August 13 General Election, saying the party has honoured its development promises and is committed to doing even more when re-elected.
President Hakainde Hichilema has praised the strides his administration has achieved in debt restructuring, free education, and public sector hiring, further promising to reduce the cost of living and uplift livelihoods.
Addressing a campaign rally in Kaoma District, President Hichilema said the UPND government has demonstrated its commitment to equitable development by implementing policies that have benefited all parts of the country, regardless of political affiliation or geographical location.
President Hichilema reminded the people of how it was in the past for all those who supported the UPND as they did not have freedom to even wear a regalia for fear of being attacked, with some killed.
President Hichilema noted that the country has since gained freedom after the UPND formed government In 2021.
“Apart from restoration of the rule of law and order, our administration has created employment, ensured that education is free for children, improved the welfare of vulnerable households through social cash transfer and enhanced the Constituency development Fund to ensure all parts of the country receive a fair share of development.
Speaking at the same event, UPND Alliance Chairperson, Charles Milupi said there is something good happening about the road infrastructure in Kaoma District.
He said the Zambian government under the leadership of President Hichilema views road infrastructure as a crucial pillar for both domestic and regional integration.
“The administration’s focus on rehabilitating, expanding, and constructing roads targets several strategic objectives”, he said.
Meanwhile, UPND Deputy Secretary General Gertrude Imenda said people alleging that expansion of Mongu Airport is a bad idea are liars.
