A 27-year-old man of Chifunabuli District in Luapula Province has died after he fell off a moving vehicle.
The incident happened on July 11, 2026 at around 18:30 hours, along the Mwansakombe – Masembe gravel road.
Confirming the accident to to the media Luapula Province Commissioner of Police, Stephen Palaata identified the victim as Bernard Chibwe of Mwanachuma village, Chief Mwansakombe’s Chiefdom.
Mr Palaata explained that the accident involved a Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter vehicle which was transporting Tonse Alliance cadres for a public rally.
“I can confirm that Chifunabul Traffic dealt with a fatal road traffic accident in which a 27-year-old man identified as Bernard Chibwe of Mwanachuma village, Chief Mwansakombe’s Chiefdom died after falling off a moving vehicle. Involved was a Fuso Fighter registration number AIG 4562 driven by Mathews Ngosa aged 45 of Kalembwe village, Chief Mwansakombe’s Chiefdom which was being used to transport Tonse Alliance cadres for a public rally held at Mwansakombe School grounds,” he explained.
He said the passenger fell from the moving vehicle, and the rear right tire ran over his head, killing him instantly
The body of the deceased was deposited to Lubwe Mission Hospital while the driver has been detained in custody for causing death by dangerous driving and the vehicle impounded for further investigations.
