President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to accelerate developmental projects in Kanchibiya District once voted back into office.
The President urged residents of Kanchibiya to choose peace and the continuity of development programmes in the August 13 general elections.
Addressing a massive crowd at Chalabesa Primary School grounds today, President Hichilema expressed happiness with the warm reception he received.
He reflected on the 2021 election period, noting that he was previously hindered from campaigning in the district due to political violence.
“I am happy that this time there is peace. The elections of August 13 are not just about choosing a president, but also about choosing peace and the continuation of the progress we have started together,” President Hichilema said.
The Head of State emphasised that the upcoming polls are a decisive moment for the future of landmark policies such as free education, the cash for work programme, and the consistent recruitment of teachers and healthcare workers.
“On August 13, we are voting to protect free education, the employment of our nurses and teachers, and the empowerment of our communities through various social safety nets,” he added.
And President Hichilema urged unemployed young people to remain patient, assuring them that his administration is working systematically to ensure they are the next beneficiaries of government employment and empowerment schemes.
The President noted that while Kanchibiya has witnessed significant growth over the last five years, it is only a fraction of the development planned for the district under a renewed mandate.
He cited key infrastructure projects earmarked for completion, including the Chambeshi-Chinkobo Road, the Chalabesa-Kasongo Road, and the Mpika-Kopa Road.
He further assured residents that the government is actively resolving operational challenges at Zampalm and is working to improve mobile network connectivity across remote parts of the district.
On agriculture and social support, the President disclosed that the government has moved to digitize farmer payments through mobile accounts to eliminate long queues at banks.
He also pledged to scale up the number of beneficiaries under the Food Security Pack (FSP) and the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) programme if re-elected.
“I am encouraged by the overwhelming response I have received across the country. Zambians understand what is at stake. I urge the people of Kanchibiya to choose to move forward and not backward,” the President added.
Meanwhile, UPND Kanchibiya Constituency aspiring Member of Parliament, Sunday Chanda, thanked the President for the unprecedented development brought to the district under the UPND administration.
Mr Chanda called on the residents to turn out in large numbers on August 13 to vote for President Hichilema and the UPND.
He said voting for President Hichilema and the UPND will ensure that the district continues on its current trajectory of growth and stability.
