Government has commenced training of agro-dealers, input suppliers and other key stakeholders under the Farmer Input Support Programme as part of early preparations for the 2026/2027 farming season.
Speaking during the official opening of the workshop, Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Mr John Mulongoti, represented by Director of Agribusiness and Marketing Mrs Mwendalubi Msoka, said the exercise is meant to ensure farmers access quality inputs on time, while boosting food security, increasing productivity and improving livelihoods nationwide.
She noted that the training will equip agro-dealers, suppliers and implementing partners with the knowledge and skills required to deliver the programme effectively and ensure timely distribution of inputs to farmers.
Mrs Msoka stressed that the success of FISP depends on collaboration between government, agro-dealers, seed companies, financial institutions, extension officers and other stakeholders driving Zambia’s agricultural transformation agenda.
She has since urged agro-dealers to uphold professionalism, integrity and accountability by supplying only approved and quality inputs, and providing efficient services to farmers.
Mrs Msoka further said government will not condone the selling of counterfeit seed, fertiliser and crop protection products, warning that offenders will face legal action.
