The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has sent a message of condolences to the Scott family on the death of the former Vice President Guy Scott, who died today, 15th July 2026.
FAZ President Keith Mweemba says Dr Scott was a lifelong friend of sports with his notable role as leader of the Zambian delegation to the 2012 AFCON final in Libreville, which was won by the Chipolopolo, immortalising his association with the game.
“On behalf of the FAZ and the entire football fraternity, I wish to convey my condolences to the Scott family on the death of our former Republican Vice President Dr Guy Scott,”.
“From the football fraternity we have fond memories of Dr Scott who was leading the Zambian delegation in Libreville at the nation’s greatest triumph alongside our founding fathers Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Rupiah Banda,” he stated.
Mweemba said Dr Scott’s place among the nation’s heroes is assured having been one of the leading figures in the political life of the country in the post One Party State era.
Dr Scott, 82, died today at his Trotover Farm in Lusaka’s Leopards Hill area after an illness.
And President Hakainde Hichilema has accorded Dr Scott a State Funeral in recognition of his service to the nation.
