Government has thanked the Church and the people of Choma for turning out in large numbers to pray for the country as called for by President Edgar Lungu.

Southern Province Minister, Nathaniel Mubukwanu, said he was humbled to see hundreds of Choma residents turnout to pray to God in the face of challenges the country was going through.

Mr Mubukwanu said President Lungu has decided to call on God to help resolve the current economic challenges the country is going through.

He said Government will not shy away from seeking the face of God in resolving any of the challenges being faced.

He attributed the current challenges the country was going through to reduced inflow of the Dollar following the low copper prices at the international.

“We need to understand the challenges that the Dollar is going through. Everyone, including those selling the local brew (Chibwantu) is all mentioning the Dollar. Let people not criticize us but give us advice on how to improve the Dollar,” he said.

And speaking in the vote of thanks, Divine Rock Church Pastor, Chilufya Mulesu, thanked President Edgar Lungu for being moved by the Holy Spirit to declare October 18 as day of National Prayer and Fasting.

He also thanked Government for recognizing the important role that the Church plays.

The day of prayer was characterized by praise and worship from various Churches. Five prayer points were given by Choma Pastors’ Fellowship that included healing and reconciliation among others.

Southern Province Permanent Secretary, Sibanze Simuchoba, Deputy Permanent Secretary Douglas Ngimbu, Choma District Commissioner and other senior Government officials attended the service.

  1. Let people not criticize us but give us advice on how to improve the Dollar,” he said.

If you don’t know how, you should not be in office. Let those you are expecting to give you advice take position. It is that simple

  2. Religion and how it is used by those in power to ensure not too much questions are asked. Now mr minister what has changed since that day?
