Its time for Zambian youth to be part of the solution to Zambia’s problems

Theme: Laying the foundation for a smart Zambia, and finding repentance, forgiveness in God.

In line with the theme, we as youths from all parts of Zambia, across political parties have seen it fit to be part of the building blocks for a smart Zambia.

We as a consortium of various youth organizations, today speak with one voice. A United voice for a better tomorrow. After prayer and reconciliation, we have awakened a spirit in ourselves to strive for better Zambia. Zambia is currently facing huge challenges, we as the young Zambian people, who constitute over 60 percent of the countries population, have had many ideas of possible solutions, but we haven’t been accorded the opportunity to present our alternative solutions. A famous African proverb states that, one hand can not pick lice. In this case, A single generation will not provide all the solutions to our problems.

A single generation will not provide all the solutions to our problems

As we walk together to a better tomorrow, a better tomorrow can only begin with a better today. A today where youths are part and parcel of the leadership. As we move towards an election year, we urge political parties to adopt youths for parliamentary and local government elections.

Further we wish to encourage youths from all over the country to begin, mobilizing themselves and building potential candidates for the forthcoming elections. Further we encourage various political parties to adopt youth candidates in the forthcoming elections. This country has experienced a leadership vacuum in recent times because we as a young people have taken a back seat to matters of governance albeit lack of opportunity in the environment for youth penetration.

As we reconcile, we want to mark a new chapter in Zambias history, where political violence , and other forms of violence that has been affiliated to the youths will be a a thing of history books. Today we set sail to a youthful and better Zambia. We as a revolutionary movement hereby do commence a program of nation wide youth sensitization and mobilization. We do hope to engage in meaningful interactions with young people across all backgrounds in Zambia. We encourage them to join us on the long walk to social and economic freedom. A freedom a smart Zambia should constitute.

In conclusion we like to thank God for the overwhelming peace and tranquility we have enjoyed the last half century, as we begin to step foot for the next century, we seek to build a Zambia where our hopes, dreams, beliefs and aspirations of our children and grandchildren to come will come to pass. May the Good lord who began good works in us, see us through a prosperous and highly industrious Nation. Happy 51st birthday mother Zambia.

  1. What the youth must aspire for is not only leadership positions for leading’s sake, but work towards moral awakening. It is not farfetched to point to the fact that most youths incorporated into positions of authority, mostly political, have failed to inspire, most behaving worse than the older people you seek to vilify.

  2. Youth, start by educating yourselves. Identify those among you who can articulate policy to be in the forefront. There is no such word as revolutionalist, so maybe you may start by appointing or electing of a new president for this movement of yours, otherwise you will be no different from people who ake noise for power and positions but cannot deliver when awarded the responsibility. Unfortunately we are now a country that uses the name of the Lord the God of Abraham in vain. Try to keep the name of the Lord out of it and focus on pertinent issues and a clearly defined agenda.
