President Edgar Lungu has said that there is urgent need to establish why people prefer to sale their goods elsewhere and not in designated places.
President Lungu said that he has observed that a number of people are trading on the streets and other structures despite Government building markets for them.
He said it is a common site around the Copperbelt and elsewhere for people to abandon ultra modern markets for the streets.
The President said that there is need to engage the traders and find a lasting solution to the problem.
He said there is also need to review plans for developing markets to make them relevant to the current economic and social needs of the people.
President Lungu said this in Chambeshi on the Copperbelt when he addressed hundreds of residents at the Mine market.
AND the President has appealed to Chambeshi residents to turn out in numbers and register as voters.
Mr Lungu said this is the only way they can exercise their democratic right and participate in national development.
He said there is need for residents to register in masse to guarantee his continued stay in State House so that he can continue developing the country.
President Lungu said the PF has a good economic recovery plan for Zambia and urged them to continue rallying behind the ruling party.

Just get rid of the Street vendors no need for a study.

I have not seen what any of the opposition can offer.Some can not in any way be leaders.Leading a country is not easy fellow country men.We need a leader who has the heart for the people,humble,God fearing,has experience in running the affaris of the Govt.Has tested leadership even at grass root level.Not one who boasts of money.

..the way ECL has come out is as if street vending started mushrooming four months ago….or as if he has been in diaspora and only came back to Zed on the 20th of January this year ….this is 4years of massive street vending for heaven sake Mr president…
….I hope he is not insinuating of constituting a commission of enquiry on street vending….and I hope he wont also query why prostitutes prefer Addis Ababa or other streets to night clubs….the study has to be extended to them as well….another area of interest/concerned is to study why mini bus taxi drivers stop anywhere they feel like to load passengers….why and how do the under 18s find their way into bars…night clubs… lodges
Lack of sustainable jobs has lead many able bodied men and women to engage in street vending.

Too many excuses for under performance. They want to hide in the fact that ECL has been in power for 10 months; but they fail to realise that PF has been in power for close to five years now.
Their inconsistent policies are the result of vendors preferring streets and not markets-they declared that themselves through SATA. How do they create a study now?
